Imagine the Yakuza games you know and love. Now make everyone a samurai with katanas.
That's this game.

Very enjoyable farming simulator with a lot of content. It can be very relaxing and calm, but you can also go in the mines if you're looking for something a bit more intense.

Great soundtrack and beautiful visuals.

Pretty much what I said in my review of Batman the Telltale Series applies here:
"If you like watching the Batman animated movies and seeing different interpretations of the world and it characters then I would recommend this. I enjoy watching different interpretations of Batman's world and I liked how this game's spin and twists on some of the traditional characters.
If you have never played a telltale game before then note that this is more of an interactive movie than a game. If you want to play as the Batman (using gadgets, gliding, fighting etc) the Arkham series would be better for you."

This is the better game in my opinion and honestly one of my favourite uses of the Joker. Again though I still think there was a disproportionate amount of Bruce Wayne to Batman. Although it could have been my choices that caused this to happen.

Overall I got this in a bundle with Batman the Telltale series for about £4 and I enjoyed watching another take on the Batman universe. I'd recommend playing both anyway just so you get the full story.

My main issue was that I felt there was a little too much Bruce Wayne and not enough Batman. Admittedly I did get two choices where you could choose between doing something as Bruce or Batman and I picked Bruce both times because that felt right for the path i took, but even so I still felt that there should have been more time doing things as Batman rather than Bruce in the other areas of the game.

Overall I got this in a bundle with the Enemy Within for about £4 and I enjoyed watching another take on the Batman universe.

I've played all 4 Room Games and really enjoyed them all. Each one increases in size and the puzzles are still as intricate as they were in the Room 1. There's been a plot running throughout the series, 3 is really where it starts to take off but this one the one which invested me most in the plot. The puzzles are difficult enough to make you think, there were some while took me a little while, but so so difficult you would need a walk-through, and there are hints if you really are stuck which are useful. The game and set-pieces are also beautiful and well detailed.

This game was purchased for me as a gift.

This was a cute short puzzle game which I found really fun. The whole game is set in a single map which is slowly opened up by completing puzzles. I would quite like to see these developers make another larger version of this game.

Only issue I had with it was figuring out how to put objects down; it is not indicated how you do this and it's not entirely obvious in my opinion. You have to click and hold on the object your holding until a circle appears on the floor and then let go.

Not sure I would have spent £10 on it as it is very short but it's £4.99, the price that it was on sale for when i wrote this review, is reasonable.

I have all the DLC that has been released so far (3rd of July 2021) and am reviewing the game based on having access to all this content.

Before my review one suggestion I would like to make is for a another type of Exhibit; An Aviary. I love birds and it would be really cool to have a structure which is bigger than an exhibit, maybe even customisable that guests could see into or even walk though. You could fill it with Toucans, McCaws, Parrots etc and maybe even have an noctural version for Bats? I would buy an expansion that offered this if there was a good variety of birds.

I loved playing Zoo Tycoon when i was younger and spent many hours in it. I was very excited when I saw this game get announced. This game is much more complex than zoo tycoon and have spent 100 hours just doing the scenarios; a mode gives you goals to fulfil. I have just started building franchise zoos; a mode which give you $40,000 and you can build a zoo however you want. I'm really enjoying building the zoos however I choose and observing and improving habitats for the large variety of animals.

Although I love this game and highly recommend it I have to point out some aspects that do get in the way of my enjoyment of it:
1) Sometimes the controls can be really finicky and placing objects can be more difficult that it should be. Like I put a speaker down and when i tried to click on it the nearest guest kept getting selected instead even though there was a gap between them.
2) Bugs. Customers and staff sometimes get stuck and it can cause major issues. One of my staff members just got stuck going up stairs to a keeper hut leading my peacock to die of starvation as i just kept urgently requesting a keeper and didn't realise they had just stopped on the stairs. Another time a group of customers got stuck in the zoo entrance and caught up other groups of guests in the bug preventing any guest from entering the zoo. I only noticed after I got really low on cash and realised there were barely any guests and because the entrance had a roof I didn't notice the congestion immediately. I deleted the path forcing them all to re-spawn and my finances skyrocketed. Sometime if your focused on building a habitat you don't notice these things until you suddenly have no money left.

These didn't ruin my overall enjoyment of the game and I am more aware of these problems now but they can get annoying at times. However I still think the game is worth getting despite these things.

Honestly though I am not a fan of the animal market. In Zoo Tycoon I remember you just got a list of animals and a standard price and you could buy a load at once. In Planet Zoo you have to buy them one by one at a market and they are worth different amounts based on various characteristics (age etc.) And sometimes an animal you want isn't available right now and you have to check back later. I suppose this is more realistic but I just want to build zoos and fill them with animals, I don't want to really wait for them to be available to buy, I miss Zoo Tycoon's basic list, it was just nice to go in and get what you wanted when you wanted. I didn't include this with the above problems as this mechanic is not a glitch or finicky, it was intended, but I personally just don't like it. Sometimes I just want to buy 2 male and 3 female zebras, I go in and there might be on of each, then next time there's just males for sale, and I have to buy the ones i want in drips and drabs and staggered. I just find it an unnecessary inconvenience and what it adds to the game (realism) is not worth what it takes away.

Maybe I have just missed this but it would be nice to sort the animals by area? So I am currently building an African zoo but i don't seem to be able to filter the market or zoopedia by Africa or grassland, which would be a nice feature.

I know this review sounds negative but that's because I am really enjoying it so these points just stand out to me when they are detrimental to my enjoyment. Plus, I really love this game and if there's a chance that Frontier is reading these reviews then I really want the game to be improved so it can be the best it can be.

The animals have been designed very well, they can be very cute and enjoyable to watch. I was really surprised when i saw a Ring-Tailed Lemur interact with another Lemur by cleaning its fur. Ultimately the animals are the core of this game and they have been done very well.

Overall it is a really fun, and quite educational, game that I will keep coming back to. I would just say that if you played Zoo Tycoon by prepared for this game to be more complex (also you can't drop guests in the lion's habitat like you could in Zoo Tycoon.) But I would still recommend it, maybe try out the base game when it is an offer and see if you think the DLC is worth it.

As I said at the start of this review I can't really judge the base game or each piece of DLC individually as I got it all and can't say whether the DLC added anything to my enjoyment of the base game.

This a really fun short puzzle game, especially for free. Even though the puzzles are relatively easy there are a few that did take me a little while to figure out.
I'd like to see the developers make a longer more fleshed out game with these mechanics and I think this is a good basis if that is the plan.

Overall it's free, runs without issue, its quite short but it has some achievements which present challenges that make it re-playble and has some fun puzzles; you might as well download it and try it out.
