Deep Rock Galactic
____ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ _____

A fantastic and fun game, it combines a hand full of concepts together and executes them really well.
★ Exploration, ★Horde Mode, ★ Difficulty, ★Variety , ★ End Game

★Exploration :
You crawl through varying lengths and complexities of cave systems trying to complete your mission gathering resources along the way and trying to traverse over obstacles, pits and enemies. This can require team work as different classes have their own traversal tools, platforms, zip lines, grappling hooks or drills. You can finish any mission solo accompanied by a AI flying robot but a team will make your task easier.
Caves also vary by biome, you will find different obstacles , visibility and wildlife in your path making your exploration novel and sometime difficult each time.
Exploration is important as you need to find nitra which is a mineral used to call in ammo resupplies, without which death is inevitable. Running through caves and trying to access unreachable areas is a lot of fun, exploring deeper and deep to complete your mission and survive the dangers lurking below.

★Horde Mode:
Swarms of enemies will close in on your location making your task of completing your mission, gathering resources and makings it back to your ship more difficult. This is common with every mission your will try to attempt and is a major appeal for the game. It is similar to Left 4 Dead but instead of zombies you get swarmed by alien spiders. The enemies are very varied, to list a few:

Swarmers : as the names suggests they spawn in large groups but are very small and weak.

Grunts: A basic and common enemy with, very light armour and decent amount of health.

Exploders : A suicide bomber, which holds nothing sacred will come at the worst times without you noticing.

Acid Spitters : Similar to grunts defence wise, but come in fewer amounts and keep distance preferring to shot from range

Grabbers: Flies around attempting to snatch you up and drop you from great heights that will definitely leave you at the very bottom of a pit needing a revive, which will be a pain to get to.

Oppressors: Lots of health and unbreakable armour making him the priority to deal with

Crassus Detonators : He will make you flee in fear, a huge suicide bomber with massive amount of health and medium armour, he will haunt you after death with his massive explosion and debris which can easily kill you. But his explosion does leave lots and lots of gold in his blast radius.

You will have to be very careful in your approach depending on the enemies your are fighting. There are many more I haven't mentioned. Some enemies have weak points and can have their armour stripped away.

★Difficulty
There are 5 levels of difficulty in the game for regular missions, difficulty will determine the health , damage speed and frequency of attacks for enemies. Meanwhile the amount of players on your team will also affect enemy health, resistances and the amount that spawn, keeping a constant challenge even with a team of 4 players. The difficulties do come with a reward as at the end of your missions depending on the difficulty you will get gold , mineral and experience bonuses. This is a great incentive alongside the challenge it provides as it boosts your gains be a significant amount + 25 % per level difficulty and + 33% for the final difficulty level. In addition some missions will come with warning labels, which will are negative statuses there can range from needing to replenish your oxygen supply or not having shields to protect you adding another layer of difficulty. These warnings will also provide a bonus to your earnings upon mission completion.

★ Variety
The previous section's should've clued you in on some of the variety in the game's enemies, levels and difficulty. This are all compelling reasons to keep playing the game and do missions without getting bored. There are four classes with distinct tool kits :

scout has great mobility and can light the cave system up completely.
gunner is a great swarm killer and has a shield to protect his team.
engineer has a sentry turret and a platform gun to help get previously unreachable minerals.
driller can dig a straight path to the exit, can dig a bunker to keep your team safe and deal with swarms.

Each class has variety within them, as you level you will unlock and new primary, secondary and grenades for each. This will unlock new play styles and suit you better for certain roles, maybe one loadout is better for killing swarms and another is focuses on killing big bosses. To help with this each weapon, and utility item can also unlock multiple upgrades which will improve your weapons, tho unlock there you need to pay enough gold and use the hard earned minerals you mined from previous missions. This makes your exploration and mining worthwhile because you will see a noticeable change in your weapons and item performance. On top of that you can unlock a final additional upgrade called an overclock for your weapon only found in the end game and special event during missions once you've promoted a class at level 25. This will alter your weapons even more, over-clocks can come with trade offs making your weapons more specialised. There are also perks which can be assigned to your classes such as self revive or faster revive or to tame a grunt, these will also give some flavour to your class.
There is also great variety in cosmetics which can be bought with in game earned currency and minerals which will give a unique look to your classes.

★ End Game
The end game is great fun and also a good challenge, to unlock the end game you need one of your classes to have reached level 25 and been promoted for a gold and mineral fee . This will unlock an extra perk slots for your class and new weekly assignments. The end game is called deep dives, and they introduce 3 new possible difficulty levels , 3.5 , 4.5 and 5.5. Deep dives are like 3 levels stuck together, you will retain ammo, health and minerals between each level and you will have to complete two tasks instead of one before you can move to the next level. This gives it a unique spin from previous missions. For each level completed you will be given a reward even if you don't complete all three, the rewards can be an overclock to upgrade your weapon or a blank matrix core which can be used in special events during regular missions to unlock over-clocks or unique end game cosmetics. There are two varieties , regular deep dive and elite deep dive. The regular deep dives provide a fair challenge and the elite deep dives are very difficult requiring a good team and coordination. These are a really fun challenge and the rewards are rare and worthwhile.
