Fun gameplay but it has predatory microtransactions...

To OLD players: You can play with your old account on Steam. Download the game then go to Library > Right-click on the game and select Properties > General > click on the launch options field and type "-provider Portal" (without the quotes). Now you can enter your credentials when you start the game.

To NEW players: If I had to describe Guild Wars 2 in only one word, it would be FREEDOM:

• Play whatever game mode you want, whenever you want. For example, in other games, you have to level up to max level before even attempting PvP. In GW2, you can play PvP or World versus World as early as lvl 2. The game will automatically give you max level and best in slot gear so you can compete against other players without having to grind for 100+ hours first!
  
  
• No gear grind! Because the game has Horizontal Progression, once you get your gear, it will stay relevant forever, so you are FREE to collect skins or mounts, or do whatever you want without the fear that your gear will become OBSOLETE whenever the next expansion comes out. And this ties to my next point:
  
  
• NO Subscription Fees. You can purchase the game once, and you will own it FOREVER! You can take long breaks, play other games, and when you come back, your characters will still be there and your gear will still be relevant, you just have more content to play.
  
  
• Yes, there is a CASH SHOP and in any other FTP game this would be a negative BUT there are no Pay-To-Win items, (just cosmetics and some quality of life items like bag slots) and everything can be purchased with in-game gold, the only time you have to pay with real money is when an Expansion comes out.
  
  
• The game is very ALT Friendly. If you get Legendary Armour, you can use that single armour set on infinite characters of that same armour class!!! The same goes for Weapons! Also, when playing, you get items that you can store in your bank and use them to instant lvl up other characters to max level!
  
  
• You don't have to fight or do the Main Story Quests to level up. You can get to maximum level by doing literally anything, like exploring maps, fishing, crafting, reviving players, etc...
  
  
• Dynamic events - the world feels alive with $hit happening with or without you being around. You can participate or just ignore them and there will be different outcomes, sometimes spawning big world bosses.
  
  
• Low-level areas are still relevant even when you are higher level. You will be downscaled or upscaled accordingly so you still get experience. Speaking of experience, it will always be valuable, even if you are at maximum level. It will be converted into valuable items like shards or will give you mastery points, useful for upgrading mounts and gliding.
  
  
• NO DOWNTIME. Other online games force you to take a break during Patch Day, and for some reason, it always happens when you got some spare time and not when you're at work. Well, in GW2 you just have to relog when the patch comes out. That's it. Zero Downtime.
  
  
• The game has great wiki integration. You can just /wiki and the item name (or shift+left click the item) in chat and it will always open a Wiki page with everything about that item: what it is, how to obtain it, the cost, etc.

EDIT: I've been reading some of the Negative reviews, and I want to address some of the concerns:

• Can't play with my friends because we chose different servers!!!
  Actually, you can! Servers in Guild Wars 2 don't matter. I mean, they do in World vs World (at least before Alliances come out) but in PvE, you can just right-click on your friend's name and select "Join Map" from the drop-down menu. The only situation when you cannot play with your friends is when you are in different REGIONS like EU or NA.
  
  
• Tab-targeting sucks! Makes the game feel so slow!
  I agree! Fortunately, you can activate Action Camera from the in-game settings and it will give you a crosshair like in Tera or other action games. Some veteran players advise against it in Ranked PvP but for open-world content it is AMAZING!

  Really?! First, ArenaNet repeatedly mentioned this beforehand on every occasion so it was pretty much common knowledge. They even sent emails about this. Second, you got to enjoy the game for thousands of hours, yet you choose to drag down the game and deter any new players from playing it because of something that doesn't have to do with actual gameplay and it doesn't affect them in any shape or form? And third, you CAN play with your old account...: go to Library > Right-click on the game and select Properties > General > click on the launch options field and type "-provider Portal".

It's a Counter-Strike wannabe with a WWII skin. Lootboxes, bugs, matches filled with bots because of a lack of players. Don't bother with this.

It had some problems but it is ok now.

OMG all these emotions... This is such a good game! Please avoid spoilers at all cost, don't watch any trailers, don't read any reviews, just play it. Buy it and play it! It's worth every penny !
