Good game in concept, but it's so annoyingly grindy.

Even while using Cheat Engine to try and fast-forward through a lot of the early stages, you're still locked by having to mine out a certain amount of blocks, which, I could have spent time trying to edit, but I lost interest in it shortly after.

If you enjoy the early stages of this game, expect to have it repeat as time goes on with even more difficult planets which will eventually slow your drill down to a halt, making the more difficult planets also be the more time consuming ones.

Honestly, it's like taking the best parts of Diablo III, improving on them and mixing a splash of Hero Siege into the mix.

It's an amazing game and if you're looking for a fun singleplayer (or local coop) experience, I cannot recommend it enough. My only real complaint is that there's no online play support, but it doesn't detract from the gaming experience at all.

Game quickly loses interest as the developers have seemingly moved onto making other microtransaction games. I would appreciate it if Comrades weren't such a gated method of progression and it's annoying that it was used so obviously to encourage people to buy "Scientists" to progress further, if only for a moment.

But also as mentioned before, you can gain Scientists every 6 hours per each resource which while rewarding longer play, still takes a considerable while to save up to get any of the upgrades or bonuses.

The medicine resource is by far the absolute worst as you need about 1.5e+10 Nurses to afford 1 Hospital, which allows for extra Comrades to be made (every 30 seconds) which while it's a nice boost, it isn't affected by the x7777 Comrade booster available in the store, and the x777 Medicine production doesn't come close to the amount of Comrades produced.

Honestly, this game is amazing for groups of friends.
Tsuro, Fiasco, Settlers of Catan, Secret Hitler and Spyfall are easily my favourite games.

Highly recommended.

== LAST UPDATE WAS IN JANUARY ==

Game is likely abandoned by the developers.

Last update was in June (Of writing this review), hold off of buying it because there seems to be a lack of end-game content (Or at the very least I've reached a section where I can't progress any further) as the way of descending further is tiered by different types of 'stairs' which for the time being seem to do the same thing, just look different.

The game is fun for a few hours, but there's a lack of diversity between monsters (Which don't level up, or get noticibly harder the further down you travel) so I can't recommend this game. Also I think it has had it's price halfed /after/ I bought it.

EDIT: However, they seem to still be developing the game just excercise caution when buying any EA title on Steam.

Honestly, this game is a perfect use of Tetris, however my only issue with it is there's no 'next block' so you can't plan ahead, though it does add to the difficulty and makes you think about where you want to place each block, but too many times I've used a block to go around, when the next block would have allowed me to just bridge across, or fitting the gap perfectly.

As far as difficulty goes, it depends on how careless you are with your placement, give yourself multiple paths and branches and you should be fine with each level.

Enjoyed this game a lot. But the end game is a bit dull.
Spellcrafting is awesome, but there is little variation between the spells that you can make.

Not worth the $40 price tag, wait until it's on sale.

After nine years I'm glad they spent all this time releasing new major updates, because it is now simply quite awesome.
