Club Penguin 2 sure is violent.

Has an aerodynamics system in place that really sets it apart from other contemporary block-based builder games.

Vilmonic is a wonderful life-simulating sandbox that really does great work in demonstrating how environments can influence animal behaviors and even to an extent their morphology. It's whimsical and light, without a tremendous quantity of fussy micromanagement. It manages to be so accessible without compromising on its depth either.

It is perpetually expanding, and I have had the tremendous fortune of getting to meet with Mark on his official Vilmonic discord. People have gone as far as cracking the Vilmonic Genome, and there's off and on talk of anim competition, so don't just buy the game. Come be part of the community as well.

"Shoot the mans until they die." This has been the premise of multiplayer arena shooter games since the dawn of time. You would think that by 2018 people would stop releasing them built on netcode that is incapable of correctly detecting that you have shot the man, or that they should very much be dead.

While this game attempts to display damage numbers, and his has very audible thunking noises to indicate to you that you have, in fact, shot the mans. These are lies. The game in no way has actually registered that you have dealt damage to your opponent. They will kill you and they will have full health after having done so. You will know this because the game tells you.

This game so utterly fails to deliver on the idea of what any video game about shooting each other in any way has ever sought to be, that it is a blight on the name of shooters everywhere. It additionally locks heaps and pounds of soylent content behind microtransactory paywalls. Yet more content is locked behind a random drops system that doesn't even have the decency to gussy up its loot boxes by not calling them loot boxes. This game seeks to eat your time *and* your money.

It has a cacophany of tasteless champion figures, including a super powered heroin addict. It's absolutely draping itself in 90's heavy metal edgelord signalling. It's trying so hard to say that it's defying "the man" with its cantankerous dubstep soundtrack and satanic imagery, but in the middle of it all, is a very stately red button that reads "Loot boxes". It's like a polite but forthright English gentleman in a full suit attempting to sell me souvenirs at a less pleasant Burning Man festival where they are burning actual men.

Which would be a sight to see, but all the men to be burned are transplanar entities and not actually combustible.

I award it points for being visually beautiful, but that is not entirely what a video game is. That is what your local art galleries are for. Take your money to one of those and commission an artist to lovingly render you a ♥♥♥♥♥. I am available for these inquiries myself. I will draw you a ♥♥♥♥♥ for five dollars, and it will surely fulfill you more than this game's atrocious netcode ever could.

Your air control is effectively nill. They've removed the ability to jump, and are selling your boost pool back to you for hard cash money.

There's a significant amount of the game and fun locked behind their paywall as well, rendering the title to be a pay to win abomination.

Add to this their idolization of Tribe's mechanics with none of its emphasis on being interesting, clever, or fun. Level design is a trajedy of insufficient movement lines, and renders base mechanics completely irrelevant at every turn.

And the worst thing of the whole shebang. Exactly the thing that rendered Tribes Ascend dead to me is present. Cloaked ♥♥♥♥♥ with the equivalent of the thumper one-shotting people in their own base. You can just fire from a cloaked state with no repurcussions. A mechanic which has been demonstrably ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for * at least* a decade at this point.

TL;DR: Midair doesn't understand why it's doing what it's doing. It doesn't understand why Tribes was ever good in the first place. It doesn't understand how to make a microtransaction model that doesn't wholly destabilize its gameplay, and it doesn't understand what killed Tribes Ascend.

Maybe they'll overhaul the entire ordeal with patches, but until then you should give this a hard pass and reinstall Tribes Next.

Arbitrarily difficult metroidvania.

Probably fine if you hate yourself.

Pay to win.

This game is amazing.

The scale is massive, the gunplay is fun, there's always something new to unlock and fiddle with.

Play it. Be Vanu. If you're not Vanu I'm going to shoot you a lot.
