While the largest Sea Spiders live in great depths, smaller variants can be found throughout the world's oceans in shallower waters.
Sea Spiders in the Pacific Ocean are known to frequent coral reefs where they scavenge for food, such as sponges. They also feed off of live coral, however non-fatally, thus making their relationship to coral parasitic rather than predatory.
Unlike many true spiders which possess venomous fangs, Sea Spiders lack any fangs and cannot bite people when handled. Rather they feed by inserting their proboscis into prey and sucking out their vitalities.
Sea Spiders are also known to fold their legs into an umbrella-like shape to float through water before unfolding, as a sort of 'deployment mechanism'.
