Victoria 3 has a lot of mechanics that force you to genuinely think about the game's systems and how they interact with each other. It's not well explained and feels nebulous at first, but as you sit down and play more you start to peel back the curtains and discover how your decisions in what to build, who to empower in your government, who to trade with, all influence the way that your economy and country grow.

I'd recommend it in the truest sense of "try it and see how you like it". It's very easy to bounce off of at first, but for the right kind of player, you'll find it slowly returning to your thoughts, thinking about how to improve your stewardship until you just need to return.

I love looking at this game. Right from the opening menu it immediately smashes you with this oppressive, industrial look and sound that create just the right feeling of bleakness. It unsettles you, even if only for a moment, which is enough to keep it in your mind so that whenever you interact with the world, you're just a little unsure.

This game does not function proper on 4:3 resolution monitors. I clicked on the help menu and letterboxing completely moved the exit button off the screen, softlocking me in the menu. Additionally, the letterboxing makes the cards in your hand impossible to read without scrolling the camera, which means you cannot use hints or autocomplete without resetting the camera.

On more modern resolutions, this game still is buggy. there are often visual glitches if you click too fast, and frequently cards simply don't move when you try to click and drag them.

The lack of an undo button, or more common winnable deals, severely detract from the relaxed, zen atmosphere this game seems to want to cultivate. Overall a very frustrating solitaire game. Just download the old Windows Solitaire freeware.

Haven't really gotten into a 4X game since Civ 5. I tried Civ 6 but just wasn't really enjoying it. Humankind does a good job of freshening up the genre, and offers a good deal of culture paths to take that make new games still interesting, even if you're aiming for victory in the same way.

Biggest drawback right now is bugginess. Multiplayer, especially, is hard to play for too long without an infinite loading on "Next Turn." Hoping to see this improved in the near future.

There are also mods available through the in-game menus, which is nice.

A fun and adorable love letter to the golden age of 3D platformers that manages to keep things fresh and entertaining. I love it.
