thanks for the response actually i didn't get the problem till i got portal 2 and after that i didn't play it till sunday last week so basically the updates happened during gameplay you may know about 3 consecutive updates each day in short it happened after i installed portal (i think)

i have a prob :( when i open TF2 what happens is it is on the loading screen (not loading a server) the loading screen to the main menu it crashes and says HL2.exe has stopped working
