I'm going to mostly compare this to ck2, so my apologies if you've played neither.

positive:
-character models make things a lot more animated and show clothing better than ck2 drawing style (though I do miss those sometimes)
-personality traits are more important
-stress mechanic
-new religion system is very nice
-culture system is similar to new religion system
-total army overhaul where terrain matters quite a bit
-new buildings are streamlined which makes it easier to remember them all
-development replaces the old easily lost prosperity system

negative:
-need to change game files to change controls
-no anti-popes
-no nomadic government (the old black box one kinda sucked though)
-no plagues (I actually liked this feature)
-no varying unit models (everyone just uses the heavy infantry model - I WANNA SEE MY PONIES)
-not many music tracks

Overall, I'd say the game is better than ck2, but it still missing some stuff that would help. The only expansion they've released (Royal Court) is way overpriced and doesn't add that much content. Plus the cultural things it adds should be in the base game because they have nothing to do with Royal Court.

Great if you like management/strategy games. Awful if you have other things you need to do; a real time blackhole.

Kind of mixed on the DLC so far. I feel like all the vendors carry DLC exclusive stuff now instead of items I want from the regular game which is annoying (like I want a prosthetic arm, but they only have psychic trainers), but there are definitely some cool additions from the DLC.

I'd like to make a little update to the review after playing more and talking to someone about the game. One thing I've noticed is that the other factions in the game don't really interact with each other, and basically everything revolves around your colony. For example someone could have a camp between 2 pirate camps, and the pirates never take them out. Also all the events you get only impact you, and there won't be say a distress call from another faction that would result in one of their camps being destroyed. This doesn't ruin the game or anything, but it would make it feel more like you were part of the world instead of the central focus.

First up, if you like everything (or most things) handed to you; or if you want to feel like a god, this isn't the game for you. You're not supposed to win a 1v5 just because you're the "hero", and the game is not afraid to just randomly ♥♥♥♥ you because that's reality, baby.

While it's not perfect in every regard, the realism in this game is basically unmatched for a RPG; (almost) everything that happens is based on historical events or items. Yes, every house is enterable, everyone has a bed, people go about their activities even if you're not around, and there are toilets with piles of ♥♥♥♥. You get dirty (and can get cleaned up at the baths), need to eat, need to sleep, and can't just teleport around like many open world RPGs. There is a "fast travel" feature, but it still takes time; and you can get ambushed on the road or run into travelers.

I could sing this game's praises for hours, so I mostly want to focus on the parts I felt like could be improved which were the lack of a local dub, lack of hydration, item weight (especially armor), weapon alignment in combat, and some minor stuff like visors always being down. Most of those are super minor compared to the great things about the game, so I'm definitely willing to overlook those especially since the game had a lot of issues in development.
The lack of a local dub is generally not a big deal in most games, but the problem is the game does have some lines in Czech even if you have it on English. I feel like they could have gone a little further and cast the game in Czech. This is kind of funny because the game was made in Austria turns out that's just the publisher not the developer with Deutsch as a voice over option which is too appropriate considering Bohemia was heavily influenced by German culture being in the HRE. I'll probably do a playthrough in Deutsch with English subtitles since that would be more accurate than people with English or even American accents in Bohemia.
You need to eat and sleep, and there are definitely items that would impact your hydration levels (and there are water skins/carriers already in the game); so it feels a bit weird they left that out. Dried meat is great to carry around since it doesn't spoil, but there's not really any downside to it. Fruit is similarly in a weird spot since fruit would normally be a source of hydration and some calories while there's really no incentive to eat anything besides meat and bread since they provide a lot of nourishment and keep well.
Many of the pieces of armor in the game not only get more protective but get lighter as they are better, and this gets really crazy at the best items especially since the game punishes you for equipping heavy items. Cuirasses are not lighter than a big coat ffs. This is fixable by modding the game, so it's something I can fix. There is *some* truth to better armor being lighter, but it's extreme in KCD. For example a coat the Cumans wear that's extremely decorative weighs 9 while one of the best cuirasses weighs 4. I don't know exactly what 4 and 9 mean, but that's totally wrong.
The combat system in the game tries to be unique and based on actual historical fighting styles, but it falls a bit flat because many of the things the tutorials emphasize don't really matter. There's almost no reason to align your weapon with the enemy's weapon, and it takes out what could have added some depth to one of the less polished areas of the game. That said combat is not that big a part of the game (unless you really want it to be), so it's not a dealbreaker for me.
There's an animation for Henry to put down his visor (on helmets that have one) when he draws his weapon, but it's always down in cutscenes or dialogue which kind of ruins wearing them. It's not a huge thing, but it's a request I see many people bring up.

All that negativity out of the way; the game is beautiful, immersive, logical (most of the time anyway), very accurate to the times (okay except maybe for potions), and gives you a glimpse into medieval life that basically all other media portrays horribly wrong. As of writing this review, I have 91 hours played which was enough time to do almost all the side quests and main quest. That's a really amazing deal for 30$, and it's one of if not the best games I've played. Definitely the best RPG, and it would take a truly amazing studio/director to make something else on this game's level.

Update: The more I play this game, the more issues I seem to have with either crashes or poor performance. I feel like I'm redoing this battle every few days, and it can get really frustrating. I almost always restart my computer before launching the game because if I don't, the performance will just be crap for some reason even if I hadn't launched it that day. I still think the game is worth it, but this could be frustrating for some people. On the plus side, the game rarely crashes.

Oh you brought a party with 3 stunners and 2 damage over time classes? Oops, this boss is immune to dot and stuns.
Oh you brought all your best gear which would take 10+ hours to replace? You can do it!
Wait, where are you going?
And that's how I uninstalled darkest dungeon.

Not an actual spoiler:
jk there's a easy way to get back stuff you lose because the devs aren't that mean

Real review:
Darkest Dungeon is like D&D and XCOM had a baby with a horror author (which is a good thing imo). The combat is extremely reminiscent of D&D with initiative (rolled every turn), damage that can vary quite a lot, only being able to bring some of your skills to a mission, and camping/resting skills.
I like the combat quite a lot which is good because the game doesn't have a lot else going for it. Don't get me wrong; the visuals are great, but there's not a lot else happening. Dungeons are basically just holding down "move right" with the fairly common interactable object and occasional need to eat or use a torch. I wish there were puzzles or clues to find about like some hidden room or something. The dungeon layout is also entirely revealed to you at the beginning which lets you plan out the best route and often go straight for the boss (if there is one); I really wish it were hidden and only revealed as you explore.

I also don't like how (actual spoiler but not a major one) the bosses are the same 8 used 3 times each when there could have been some like multi-floored massive quests instead possibly with some randomly generated puzzles or something.

I still recommend the game, but I just wish there was a bit more.. stuff to do. Maybe in DD2?

A great concept with wonderful ideas ruined by being made by a big studio that only cares about the money. You've probably been through this story many times already, so that's all I'm going to say. The gameplay generally improves over time, but ubisoft keeps adding dumber and dumber characters to the game to counteract that.

Find something else made by a smaller company that doesn't outright ignore issues with their product.

I'm not really sure where to start. This game is a real test of skill: you can ALWAYS do better, and you will not get bored.

The gameplay is really exhilirating, the soundtrack is AMAZING, and a lot of the worlds are stunningly beautiful. There are several different event types to keep things fresh, and there's a vehicle manufacturer for everyone.

Things can be frustrating if you get stuck on a rough segment or event, but it's definitely worth it to power through those and come out on top.

Tips: Do NOT look up people playing tracks on youtube unless you want to have your soul crushed, and remember, Luke: use the right stick.

As soon as I saw this game, it immediately made me think of old flash games I played when I was younger, and it didn't disappoint. Obviously the game is more in-depth and adds/changes things each level, but things are familiar and manageable. Most levels can be taken at your own pace, but there's a leaderboard if you wanna see what you can do.

I don't have a ton to say; if you like RTS games with a more turtle style, you'll probably enjoy CW3. I have not played CW2 or CW, and everything was totally approachable including the story.

Only real complaint I had was that there's one song on the soundtrack which obviously gets old after a while.

I honestly forgot I bought this piece of garbage. Do NOT support Firaxis, and do NOT buy this game. They shove out an alpha build at best and charge you for it and then just release DLCs instead of actually fixing core problems.

At least Paradox actually fixes ♥♥♥♥ and puts out patches, sure, they charge you; but Firaxis doesn't even do that.

I tried to write an in-depth review about this game, but this review editor is absolutely trash.

http://pastebin.com/sR2chF00 - link to the actual review.

If you're just here for some stupid score and don't care what I have to say, it's a solid 8/10. The steam review editor is easily a 0/10.
