Oh, No Man's Sky.

Yeah, I'm just writing this for the Steam Awards so I can tick that box off, but I am at least going to put down my thoughts on this and try no to fall into the GAME IS BAD AVOID trap.

I mean, yeah, its bad. But it tried so hard.
It is kinda amazing that such a small studio managed to pull a game of this scope off.
The game is huge, probably one of the largest game worlds I've ever seen.

Sure, promises where made, and ultimately, broken.
But, I went into this game not knowing those things.
I managed to stay away from the trailers and hype.
From the aspirations of marketing and players 'head in the clouds' dreams of space battles and trading.
And..
...yeah,
That didn't help.
Game still feels empty.

Am I mad that I bought this and feel ripped off?
A little.
But that's only after seeing the marketing and the imitated backlash thereof after I played it.

Exploring, collecting, finding. The game does that well.
Just..
Kinda that's all there is to do, nothing new, or as far as I saw, comes up. And I played it for 16 hours.
All the fun gets lost as its just 'do that again'.

The game sorely needs an update, just at least to add a bit more to the game.
Base building, more ships, active NPC's, better random quests, more populated worlds, anything.
I can only hope that Hello Games is taking what people are saying,
well,
taking the opinions from those with constructive ideas, and working on adding those.

Would I recommend this game? Absolutely. Check it out, its a blast for the first few hours.
Should be cheep enough that you can find it at a good price.

Space is empty. This game shows that off perfectly.
