Neat game. Found this a while ago while looking through Itch Io. The dev is very active displaying snapshots of their new content as they work on it.

Wish there was more reason to use weapons outside of the classes they were meant for. Would like a magic bell fighter and still use the heavy weapon skills with it.

Kinda hard to recommend friends this with the cost of entry (19.99 usd). It's a game I love but as a game of this type needs players severely to be fun. Ouch.

You can really feel that Gearbox dev team with this dlc.

Reminder they sold the IP to Gearbox. Their devs don't seem to understand the feel of RoR. Then the console tier bugs showing on PC. Yay!..

May disable this update and unpatch the game.

While RoR2 you will replay to have fun. RoR:R I don't really feel the same way. If you're expecting to break this game like the original RoR1 or RoR2 you'll find out pretty quickly that there's stat caps that prevent you from attacking faster, having higher health, even critical isn't like RoR1 and acts more RoR2. Though some of the community thinks the attack speed thing is because of the engine and forced animation speed.

If you can get over figuring that out. The best method becomes pick up every proc item you can find. I'm not too fond of it.

The option to decrease damage taken and increase damage dealt before a run is nice to have. Makes it so you can talk some friends into playing more if they're into an easier experience.

The Trials being an alternative way to unlock abilities is nice. Though the difficulty of some of them is mainly an issue of how the controls feel. Which it doesn't feel as solid as it could be. Most gold times in the Trials are soo very tight that it's frustrating. Heck there's even a few trails that are frustratingly RNG based. Which the trial "Drowning in Research" and "Hot-Rope Hop" are some of the worse ones to achieve gold on.

Currently I find myself starting up this game about 2 days a week and do a few runs of Judgement. Then taking a break from how frustrating that mode feels.

Had a lot of fun.

It haunts me knowing that I have to wait on a certain month of the year to unlock a character. Would've went for 100% otherwise.

As great as the game is. The publisher has control of the Steam page. So until the countries can buy the game again. This review will stay negative.

Arrowhead Game Studios is doing a great job, are communicating, and have listened to feedback. Hopefully the shape of this game gets better and better.

I kept telling my friends. "I'll let you know when this game gets good!" Here we are nearly 3 years later.

*Stares at my hours.*

Ya. No. It's hard to suggest NGS to anyone. But if you want a more decent game. Play the original PSO2 game under "PSO2 Data" in the Content for this game. That's a better game. Sadly you would have to start it through NGS.

What have I've been doing the last 3 years? Daily logins. Salon for more character customization. Events that were copy pasted old events. There's just no soul in this thing.

With the removal of World Pass EXP limit, from what I can see. The game is a bit more decent. The new Bard is interesting and I do wonder how Archer will change once re-implemented.

If you like melee focused pvp combat. It's a pretty neat game.

Some balance adjustments can really help polish this game out more. Add a bit more reward to perfect timed blocks. Make back peddling slightly less effective for dealing damage. Ballista have too much angle for shields to protect points. Smoke Wall has the least usage out of everything in the game with it being tied to the same resource as fast reviving. I feel there needs to be more punishment in Team Deathmatch on pushing into the enemy spawns, maybe give more invincibility time so people stop that.

What I think this game can really use is a wave respawn method. As of right a decent chunk of players are holding to respawn faster but are still locked behind a respawn timer. This makes it difficult for teammates to revive if they're not contested in doing so. Then the trickling amount of players will run into outnumbered fights. With a wave respawn method to probably fix the issue. Make hold to respawn tied to the actual respawn timer instead of allowing them to hover over the map for nearly half the time they take for the actual respawn.

More of a rant than a review. Can you tell I think staggered spawns / trickling is a problem in this game?

I went out of my way to 100% this one. Favorite mecha game. Just wished I could've tried AC V when it still had online co-op. Eh. Oh well. I would have more reason to play after the 100% if it had co-op stuff. PvP was fun. May try it some more since patch 1.02 came out a few hours ago from the time of this review.

If you don't have screen awareness or pay attention to audio cues you'll have some problems in this game.

If you get use to the "Garage"(Assembly) screen's numbers you'll probably get fun working mechs by the end of chapter 1 going for you.

Criticism.
S ranking missions is too forgiving on some stages. 2 stages require you to be perfectly speedy. I hear a lot of people say you need to not take a lot of damage or not waste all your ammo, though a lot of these missions I already use all 3 repair kits and barely had 10% ammo left and still got them. Speed seems to be the main factor for them. Maybe some stronger MTs, PCAs and ACs if they're there. It's what I did.

Seriously some weapons need more ammo. There's some neat weapons but they tend to run out of ammo on long missions unless you made sure they don't ricochet.

There's lots of complaining about the Impact weapons and Direct Hit Modifiers. It does feel the game overly rewards you if you engage in the stagger mechanic. Sort of wish some direct hit modifier damage gets removed and added to the base damage of the weapon instead. Don't hate it. Just I somewhat understand after playing some of the older games preparing for this game.

Love the movement tech in this game. Wish there was more to it, but for the price and how much I enjoy it. Definitely a good game.

Looking forward to more low poly games from this creator in the future.
