The individual games themselves are great but the collection as a whole is just alright. Probably the best way to play them officially but they could've done more and they still haven't even tried to work out the music licensing with Sonic 3. I'd recommend it to anyone who has never played them before or just wants a convenient way to play them.

I loved everything about this game except for actually playing it

Man I wish this didn't die

This game is so mind numbingly boring, even with friends. Nothing interesting happens 80% of the time and when something does it's not even that exciting or scary. Once you play for a bit it becomes way too easy to figure out what the thing is. I have absolutely no idea why my friends insist on playing this so much.

The good

This game is great for the most part and improves on so many things Sonic Adventure 1 did like the controls. The story is also better imo with much higher stakes and felt even more serious. The stages are fun, creative and unique (for the time and even now in some cases). The music is just as amazing or even better than SA1's OST. Sonic and Knuckles are great to play as too and are alot better than they were in SA1. Shadow is great too.

The bad

Tail's, Eggman, AND ESPECIALLY Rouge leave alot to be desired. Tail's nor Eggman are that terrible, they're just a little clunky and repetitive (and the constant laser sounds do get annoying). Rouge though.... God her stages are so annoying. The one with the emeralds makes you have to go back and forth alot on top of the fact that there's a timer AND it's random where they are everytime. The stage in space is just a whole other thing (please look up a guide, it's not worth the pain of doing it yourself)...

Anyway it's a great sequel and game. If you can look past some annoyances I'd recommend it. If it got a remake that fixed all of that stuff it would be my favourite Sonic game.

Terraria but with mods.

It's beautiful

After playing and beating this for the first time I can say that this is a great Sonic game and just a great game overall. First of all, the soundtrack is just amazing and especially Open Your Heart. The controls (although a little janky) have aged surprisingly well. Sonic feels like Sonic and same with the other characters. Big is the only character I was annoyed with due to the game never explaining the controls for the fishing properly and I had to look up online how it worked but other than that he's fine. The story is great too but sometimes hard to take seriously with how goofy some of the animations are and the voice acting.

Overall a great game and I would 100% recommend to anyone who can look past a few of the dated aspects of it.

This..... Sure is a Sonic game. I just felt nothing playing it.

Just play Generations instead, please. It does everything better.

An almost perfect remake of some of my favourite games ever. They're fantastic late 90's collectathon games with great characters and levels. There are a few redesigns and recasted voices I don't like as much (mainly in the 3rd game) but that hardly takes away from how beautifully crafted this is.
