This game has just enough bots to be great, but it is missing a few key features more recent games have added:
We need a TF2 battle pass. In fact, retroactively add passes for all the past seasons we've missed out on as well. $15 each is reasonable.
It's nice to have NFTs in the game but could we go all the way and just sell/buy them directly from Valve? I don't like owning "used" skins.
A monthly subscription service would be nice. Make it 9.99 a month and track stuff like "times killed by cheaters", "hours spent afk" etc.
Maybe add some kind of leveling and prestige system, then add xp boosters?

Last but not least: Make the game $70. I think we can all agree that playing this game with people who can only afford free games makes us all feel a little disgusting inside. I personally have to wipe off my keyboard after playing even a single match with these reprobate scum. Let's face it: people who cannot afford to spend a mere $70 on this game are poor, and poor people deserve nothing good in life.

Implement these fixes and you will receive a shout out (up to 248 characters) on a social media network of your choice. That is more than enough compensation.

I've had this game for 5 years, I used to watch it on Twitch much more than actually playing, but it's good now. I was really worried the last couple of years that it was gonna be a dead game, but a lot of the recent reworks are really fun. If you get this on discount I think its a safe pick for a good cheap game. Great with friends as well.

The only major game I play that is not bogged-down with MTX. Only microtransactions are some skins you don't need at all (game has hundreds of free cosmetics). Gameplay is fun, modding is amazing. Great with friends, 7/10 solo. Development is slowing down but there's about 500 hours or more of gameplay currently available. Uses cutting-edge nVidia graphics options like DLAA and the newest Ray Tracing, it's probably the best-looking game I own. HDR looks amazing too. Rock and stone to the bone

tl;dr- Tom Clancy is rolling in his grave

This game is literally the quality of a pre-early-access title, but it's 5 years after launch. Every single system clashes with every other system. I'm 11 levels into the prestige system and I've been playing on the hardest difficulty with 1-3 other friends, so I've played a decent amount of solo and co-op at a 50-50 ratio almost.

I run the 50 cal sniper rifle from the fallen ghosts dlc, mk249 lmg, and a m1911 pistol, just so you have an idea of the playstyle I was using.

There is a huge focus on sniping but there is no consistency with what objects are penetrable with bullets. Some times I can shoot through a concrete wall of a bunker, but other times, the bullet will be totally stopped by something like a 1cm piece of rebar sticking out of a broken building or a sheet of tin you would find on a shack roof, maybe 3-4mm thick, totally stopping a .50BMG round... If the enemies just double-layered their wife beaters, they would be bulletproof.

Bullet travel time and drop are *insanely* bad. Bullets travel at like 100mph or 75 if you're using a silencer, even the highest-powered sniper rifles have massive bullet drop that comes out of nowhere at about 175m. Taking a shot over 250m is like watching a Bullet Bill chase you in Super Mario. Imagine a sniping game, but you cringe *every time* you take a shot that actually requires a sniper rifle's range.

IRL, the M82 has an effective range of 1,800 meters. You literally could not shoot half that in this game if you tried. The IRL muzzle velocity of the M82 is about 850m/s but in this game I find myself having to lead slow-walking, not alerted targets by about a foot at 100m away.

My longest headshot is over 400m, you have to aim like halfway down the range finder on the crosshairs and the bullet travel time is around 3.5 seconds, so this gun is actually shooting bullets at around 12% of its real muzzle velocity. If you snipe at someone over 50m who has detected you, they will duck to the side and dodge the shot like Neo in The Matrix. It's pathetic.

The enemies all wear white or black clothing, which would be great except the entire main color palette of the game is earthy neutrals, so I find myself entering a base and getting shot by some guy wearing all white standing up against a white concrete wall, or a guy wearing all black laying on a black military cot. I mean seriously, white is the lamest bad-guy color ever and this is a videogame, not a movie. It's just bad game design.

The AI is absolutely god awful. I have like 850 games on steam/others, GRW has *the worst enemy AI I have ever seen in a game*. Half the time they know exactly where you are because some guy on the other side of the base heard a round ricochet and yelled "OMG" in Spanish, other times you'll kill 5 out of 6 people standing in a circle talking to each other and the 6th guy won't even react.

Sometimes all the AI bum rush you in a horde, but usually they will trickle in 1-by-1. There's a particularly obnoxious behavior that commonly happens, where an enemy will detect you and just hide in cover no matter what, as all his allies are massacred, then when you start walking around the area, they will pop up already aiming at you and you had better hope you already got whatever unlock was in the base because you're about to be respawning.

The reinforcements can spawn anywhere you aren't currently looking at, so you can clear a base except for 1 guy and then turn around to face the base entrance and a car with 4 LMG troops will pop in behind you and instakill you. Another loading screen.

The loading screens are like "Witcher 3 on Xbox at initial release" levels of bad, my SSD is better than an Xbox Series X SSD and the load times can be 5+ minutes some times, no I am not kidding.

Multiple times I have been in a story mission that failed for some reason or another and then after a 5 min respawn, I load into the game and it instantly fails the mission for me again? Had a friend get stuck in that loop 10+ times last night so he just had to quit the game via Task Manager.

I have had *multiple* hostage extractions fail because the target I am carrying straight up disappears from the game right out of my character's hands and it tells me "target lost". Other times where the "do not kill the VIP" target will suddenly change (icon goes from gold to red) and they become a normal enemy who is shooting me. I had it happen once while the guy was inside my car with me mid conversation.

The enemies also from what I can tell from playing at 100% volume make *0 movement noises whatsoever*. Unless an enemy is yelling something, they are totally silent and you have to hope you have them spotted on your drone. #1 cause of death for me is definitely an enemy that I haven't spotted silently sprints up to me and fries me with dual skorpions.

I have been killed multiple times by the "friendly" rebels running up behind me and shooting through me at an enemy. The military AI faction is supposed to fight the cartel AI faction when they meet, but oftentimes I find them just grouping up and hunting me as a team.

The voice acting is terrible. The dialog is terrible and cringy, but the actual way the voice actors say the words is just... Bad. Like they were amateurs who were just doing their "regular voice", which IMO sounds like a cattle rancher who just moved to the city and is mildly dampening her accent because she's afraid the "city slickers" will judge her (for the female operator) or a FOX news stereotype of a hipster in San Francisco ordering a coffee (for the guys). Really, the only VA in this game that isn't so bad it seems like it was on purpose was Jon Bernthal's character.

There is a massive desync issue in co-op, some times I will find my teammates telling me they're standing next to me, but in the game, they are 1+KM away from me. Some times players will get downed and TP across the map, sometimes when you revive a teammate they revive kilometers away.

The vehicles are the same, some times one of my squadmates will share their screen and a boat or a car is just bouncing all over the world on their game, even though for everyone else it isn't moving. The spazzed out vehicle can still kill the other teammates by smashing into them, they will just instantly go down with no hitmarker, this happens multiple times every single co-op play session I have had. Boats flying out of the water and smashing into your heli sounds funny but if you can't even see the bug, it's immediate cancer.

The gunplay isn't great either, all the automatics seem the same with just slightly different recoil. Semis all seem the same except for whatever their minimum fire rate is changes a bit per gun.

The vehicle AI is god awful as well, you can cheese any "stop the target from escaping" type of objective by just parking a car sideways in the road in front of a base, the enemy will floor their car and smash into it, causing theirs to catch on fire so they bail... And get another car, to drive it straight into the bonfire/pile up they just created. Earlier today I had an NPC do this with over 10 cars in a row, he ran out of cars parked nearby and started *carjacking the civilians, and then crashing their cars too*.

Oh yeah, the store works with minimal errors, though. Almost makes this game seem like a flaming dumpster fire of a cash grab.

I could keep making this list longer but the game is so bad it's already not been worth my time to type this much out, please avoid this game. I only took the time to write this much so people will realize I'm serious and not just raging out. Save your money, save your time, save your rage.

I am the type of person who plays games mainly for the social aspect of co-op so I normally don't mind a scuffed game, but this is SO BAD. We can barely laugh or joke around because 1 dumb mistake is 5+ minutes of loading screens and it just gets infuriating and soul-crushing.

Not much content, but it's extremely fun with friends. If they added support for custom maps the game would be absolutely insane, so hopefully they do that some time in the future.

I just finished the story beginning to end in CoOp. I have 56 hours in DL1 and my brother (who I played with) has about 500 hrs in DL1, so we aren't new to the series.
They claimed that this game was "500 hrs to get all collectables, 80 hrs to do all side + main quests, and 20 hours to just rush the main story". After like 50 hours, we beat the campaign and the vast majority of the side quests (only missed like 1 or 2), as well as picking up all the inhibitors and over half of the random collectables.
I am not kidding when I say the cutscene right before the "point of no return" cutscene made it seem like the game is halfway through. My brother literally said, "man, I think we just hit the half way point." Nope! That was it. The pacing of the story was absolutely terrible.
The bugs are everywhere, they're funny sometimes, but other times they're super annoying. There's a bug that kicks in after about an hour or 2 of gameplay that either lowers my fps from 100 to 20 or causes the game to stutter every other second for about .5 seconds each time.
We beat the game on Hard with just 2 of us and literally never both died in a fight, only from missing parkour jumps. I can't even imagine how easy the game would be if you had 4 people playing.
The game has so many places where it was obvious that they ran out of time or money and just cut something out. There's a character who "transforms", another NPC yells, "run! they're transforming!". Well, as it turns out, if you don't run, and just sit there, he doesn't actually transform. this "transformation" happens like 5 times in the story and we were laughing about it.
99% of the cutscenes that lead into a fight, you get punched and fall over right before the cutscene ends, yet another joke.
I can understand why they nerfed the grapple, but the new one is literal trash. Basically I only used it for puzzles that specifically required the grappling hook.
What were they doing for 7 whole years? This is like cyberpunk but Techland wasn't as effective at building hype for the game so the flop wasn't as violent.
I could keep listing stuff that they did wrong, but at this point I feel I've put more effort into this review than Techland put into Dying Light 2.
Do not buy full price, wait for a sale. If you *must* buy the game, at least wait for them to patch the bugs, they are absolutely game breaking right now.

Update, april 25 2023 (*over 1 year later*): big game update came out so i went to play with my brother and found out my character is still there, but the update wiped my campaign progress so my map is completely locked again, my brother crashed 3 times in 10 minutes, gave up again. what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disappointment.

I am rewriting this review after 2 years(!) This game is worse than it was 2 years ago. 2 years ago, I hated this game because the intro was too complicated and there were too many bugs. My problem is not with bugs. My problem is with the fundamental framework of the game. This should be a co-op PVE game, not a multiplayer game. Matchmaking is absolutely worthless. This would be an insanely good pvm game but it is PVE to sell skins. Totally worthless, and frankly an embarrassing regression for Crytek. They should have fired the person who suggested this idea, but instead they went all in.

(remaining part of original review below)

For a $20 (ON SALE) game, this isn't worth $20 for 3 copies. Yet another terrible indie excuse for a "game" hyped up by streamers, not real players. So, SO, disappointed.

Great game so far. All of the complaints I've seen about this game seem to have been made by people who didn't actually play the game, and just wanted to cash in on the internet hate.
