Having played the original four Silent Hill games many many times, it's safe to say I'm a fan. Other than Silent HIll 4: The Room, however, I didn't play 1, 2 or 3 until 2017/2018. I'd debate the first four titles still hold up well even today.

But, in saying that, I have to say this remake of 2 has been perfect from start to finish. It really recreates the exact same feeling I had when playing the original SH2 for the first time, and bringing it into a more modern world with the over-the-shoulder gameplay loop I think was done perfectly without sacrificing what made the original so creepy.

This should be the definition of what a good remake is in the dictionary, and I would HIGHLY recommend that you purchase this and play it for yourself, both so you can experience an incredible game with memorable characters, moments and plenty of spooks to boot, and so that we can hopefully show Konami that the other three in the quadrilogy deserve a chance too.

Early Access Review
Having played a good session with myself and my boys now, I can safely say that this mish-mash of inspirations has come together perfectly to deliver a solid experience with an unbeatable atmosphere. You have clear inspiration from Half-Life (specifically the first game), Silent Hill, Resident Evil and (from a gameplay perspective) Project Zomboid. And I'm sure as we continue on we'll only find further influences.

The atmosphere and setting is absolutely immersive. It pulls you in and holds you tight, makes you want to explore, discover more, keep pushing on. The gameplay itself isn't anything super innovative, taking plenty of survival, crafting and gameplay elements of plenty of prior games that come before it, but in saying that it is an incredibly solid experience from a gameplay perspective. The progression feels natural, the combat and skills you level up make sense, the sandbox-y nature of crafting and decorating is intuitive enough.

All in all, I cannot recommend this game enough. It's a knockout hit with a lot of love and detail put into it, and seeing the other reviews you can tell I'm not the only one who really feels the love the devs are putting into this.

I'm extremely excited to see where this goes, and having looked at their roadmap to 1.0, I'm keen as ever.

Seriously, even if this game isn't on sale, get it.

This is everything a remake should be. Everything. You know how people say the RE1 remake was perfection? This is definitely the same sentiment. I cannot recommend this enough.

Some people may be a bit divided on this title, namely people who still desire the more toned down style of the original trilogy, but honestly for me, after having played this and it's dlc campaign Shadows of Rose, I can safely say this is one of the most solid Resident Evil entries out there. I'm not the type to replay games either but the replayability of this one has me having completed 4 playthroughs of the main campaign now. It really does take all of the good from Resident Evil 7 as well as the RE2 remake and consolidates it into an incredibly polished experience. Well worth the money, no sale needed.

Everyone who are making comments like "RIP all those who paid for Payday 2" really need to wake up for a second. A lot of people who paid for Payday 2 most likely bought it six months or longer ago, for example, I purchased the game in 2013. If Payday 2 were to be free forever then yeah, I'd be salty, but it was only free for three to four days, hence it's not RIP for a game I got my money's worth out of over three years ago.

If anything we got the better deal, because before the game went free, there was an 85% sale on DLC, so we only had to pay about 15 - 20 for the DLC where as all you new players have to buy the ultimate bundle upgrade for 45 if you want the DLC.

So no, it's not RIP for all of us who paid for Payday 2 (unless you bought it within six months before the promotion), we all knowingly bought the game and I assume got our money's worth because of it.

Also, it's an amazing game, just as a side note.

-=Mini Review=-

This review is subject to change plenty of times as I'm only typing this up having reached Battery Park. Yes, I have played the original Deus Ex, I've had the GOTY edition on disc plenty of years now.

Pros:

+Lovely atmosphere, still fits the game.
+Aesthetically pleasing in visuals.
+Plenty of customization options.
+Easy integration through installing via steam.

Mixed:

*The new soundtrack is very well done and I praise the composers, however I don't think it fits the game at all. It fits the genre, but not the game. It'd work well for something like Human Revolution, but doesn't slide in very well with Deus Ex.
*The inclusion of the DX9 renderer is brilliant, even if the DX10 renderer for the game has been out for a few years now.
*While the enviroments seem to fit in rather well, it can feel cluttered,

Cons:

-Heaps of glitches still. Using my progress to Battery Park as an example. I'm not sure if it's because I disabled the new soundtrack in the options and are using the game's original soundtrack, but it's playing the music for Hell's Kitchen instead of the music for Battery Park.
-HDTP still looks utterly terrible, although that's not a negative impact on this game because you can disable it.
-The custom loading screens are neat, but serve no real purpose otherwise.

My rating: 8/10

My opinion: I think this mod is lovely, but, until they fix the bugs, such as the music for Battery Park actually playing the music for Battery Park, I think the original with New Vision still tops this mod.

CS:GO Review
I'd usually do a proper review, but I'm too lazy for a Counter-Strike game. As you can tell by my hours played so far, it's a really fun game for me personally, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to hone their reflex times, have constant adrenaline forcing itself through their veins or just looking to enjoy themselves with a friend. I pretty much play competitive ranked only and I play it with friends, and it's the most amazing thing to do.

So, my road of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a bumpy one. I bought the original one a week before the director's cut came out, and this prevented me from wanting to play it at all, so I didn't. But I just bought the director's cut last week and thought I'd give it a good playthrough. So I did. Straight out I noticed many similarities to the original Deus Ex, and I loved that with a passion, not to mention the storyline and gameplay itself is amazing. All the characters have taste and good voice actors to match with, and I've never once wanted to play a newer game for a second playthrough STRAIGHT after completing it for the first time. Deus Ex: Human Revolution sure is a gem hidden in a haystack. I would recommend this game tenfold. I don't think I've enjoyed a game this much in a loooong time. Now, in terms of the director's cut specifically, it supposedly improves on the gameplay and bugs and such, I can't really attest having not played the non director's cut, but the addition of the DLC definitely made the game a good few hours longer, and is a happy addition. Whether you're a hardcore Deus Ex fan like myself or you'd love something..a little different from your standard 'hold left click and fire', Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut is a wonderful game to pick up and invest plenty of time to. There's plenty to explore, many side quests, funny little quirks, easter eggs to find and much more. Get this game.

This game is an utter classic. I played this through my childhood, I still have the original disc for it too! Now it's free? Get it. I demand it. <3

"Dota 2 is..well..the first RTS-esque game I've ever played. Despite that Dota could be considered many different genre, I would consider it this: amazing. I never thought I would like Dota 2 at all, but now, it's one game I know I can always play without ever getting bored. The RPG-esque system of leveling to 25, only to have it reset next match, the vast array of heroes, the multitude of items you can buy, it all makes Dota 2 an all-round great game. I'm glad I had a friend to push me to try this, and I'm glad that I have the oppurtunity to give other friends a go, as well." 4.5/5 (.5 less due to the occasional rage factor.)
