Over 100 countries still unable to even buy this game, and it's not steams fault, it's not arrowheads fault (Kind of), it's Sony's fault.

Sony is actively trying to bring back piracy with this game and their other published games coming soon.

They started hiding reviews now, claiming all of the negative reviews are off topic reviews.
This review is not an off topic review and is in direct reply to the latest patch.

I've only played a few hours of this, but so far I enjoy it a lot. The game itself is like a mix between Saiko No Sutoka and Doki Doki Literature club. There's seemingly a lot of meta going on with the story and the data of characters. Was surprised to stumble upon this before all the big name youtubers did,

This game has many problems, technical and mechanically.

For one, the game is locked at 30fps. There is no option to change it, in fact there is absolutely zero graphics options at all. The game runs in window mode, I assume is 1080, and to fullscreen it you have to Alt+Enter. It's not a looker, jagged edges everywhere, jerky controls, no shadows. The animations are alright but the main character (Sachi) moves terribly slow (We'll get to why that matters later).

The game itself is a life sim, much akin to Princess Maker games of old. The issue with this one is it's extremely simplified, so much so that I'd be hesitant to call it a 'sim' at all. There are quite a few endings that are all determined by her stats at the end of the 10th day with one bad ending and one neutral ending. The neutral ending is the all around general ending if you didn't put her stats in a narrow window of points and you'll probably see it a lot. With Princess Maker you had a specific number of actions for the week, in this game though you have a time limit that counts down the moment your intervention begins for the day, which is pretty terrible on it's own but there's more. Not only are you timed, but you also need to pick up 'pages' to even have the ability to get endings, while it is possible to pick up every page and open every ending in a playthrough, you're going to have nearly no time to actually increase her stats because her movement is so extremely slow. She walks to an object, stands there a second, interacts with said object, removes herself from object, stands there a second THEN moves on to the next task. Considering the time limit forcing you to feel rushed, she is not rushed at all. Thankfully her moving to an interaction tallies the stat increase immediately.

The story is pretty good though, Sachi is an endearing character and her struggles are going to be relatable to nearly everyone that has been college age, but the mechanics themselves prevent you from feeling anything for the character and her dilemma after your first playthrough when the game devolves into a numbers game with no emotional connection.
The objects she can use to increase her stats are many, and more unlock as days progress (Under the assumption she buys them and brings them home, like manga books and candy) and nearly all of the objects do a solid increase a stat and more often than not in multiple stats. There are very few objects that actually decrease a stat, and those usually give a hefty increase in something else. You might be thinking, "That's a good thing!" but then you get to the ending requirements. In Princess Maker type of games, the variance in stats required for endings are usually pretty large, which would allow you to play through them twice the same exact way and still get a different ending, here that is not the case. Every ending has a specific set of all five stats with a variance of 20 to achieve, go over? You're not getting that ending. Considering a lot of items increase her stats by 10 or so points and some items increasing up to three stats, it quickly becomes problematic. You find half way in that you're over in points in a certain stat to get an ending you were after, and using the item to lower that stat would raise another stat significantly higher than you could fix so you go "How about another ending" well you missed the page a previous day to unlock the ending you could try for now. That's a common occurance in my time with it.

The lewd portions people may be interested in nearly don't exist. You can peep on her in the shower and see her butt but that's about it, the 'personal massager' is not the type of massager most would assume by it's look. As she's slowly making her way around her room, certain scenerios will happen where she'll do something clumsy and you will get a QTE in order to see her panties, but the issue with this is, since she's so incredibly slow you'll probably be playing at 4x speed (You can change speed with a button) and when the QTE's happen, they'll also play in 4x speed which makes them unenjoyable. You can also do some spectral ghost touching on her, but it only amounts to her being spooked and covering herself.

Overall it's a good story and good idea severely hampered by it's mechanics that fails to reward you for doing well every step of the way by refusing endings for having Sachi 'overqualified'. Zero graphics options. Zero emotional attachment after your first playthrough. Can not recommend.

Played this on PS4 for awhile, didn't even realize the PC version re-released until recently. Lower playbase was immediately noticeable, as well as the skill of the players themselves being very poor but it was still fun. Got level 10, started getting matched with level 40's with Quick Shot who ball hog entire game and are unstoppable hitting 3's with Centers at 100% clip. Became a lot less fun. Every match consists of passing the ball to the person with Quick Shot Freestyle and standing still until you get on defense. Reminded me why I didn't play all that much.

Until that point though, it's a good game. Getting in matches without the try-hards is still fun. Too bad that hardly ever happens once you reach level 10.

I normally hate PvP games. Something about this one though is interesting, the gameplay loop itself is infinitely better than Dead By Daylight with it's dumb generators and hooking mechanic. Killing, or Mori, a downed character is dependent on their element that they are randomly assigned at the start of the match. The elements go down a pokemon style diagram with one beating the other until it circles.

All the characters feel very unique, you got some that specialize in prolonging the chase, some specialize in fighting back, the killers vary by a large margin too, some have teleports that take you next to a person, some disguise themselves as another survivor, some lay traps and take control of areas. Even the killer speeds vary, but faster doesn't always mean stronger. the Survivors (Agents) each have a special ability that changes how they are played by a large margin, with teleports, decoys and weapons.

The element focus is intriguing, there is nothing as tense as activating that last pedestal to win the game. You know the killer is coming, they have to or they lose. To get downed takes awhile, it's usually two or three hits from the killer to down a person (Typically more hits from faster killers). When downed you can't use doors but you can crawl around, crafty killers will usually shut you inside a room unable to exit while your friends attempt to sneak in to revive you. There are some bugs with this, like being able to put your butt against the wall and clip through it.

Negatives is basically as I'm sure everyone doing a review has mentioned, the English translation here is nearly nonexistent. It used to be translated, at least well enough to understand most things, but as things were added in or changed, the translation for those things never happened. So now, with English language option on, it's a mishmash of Chinese with a few English words here and there. Highly recommend having google translate on your phone for quick translations of chat or ability descriptions, neither though are going to be very accurate. Fixed in recent patch. YAY.

Second negative is the ping. Not sure if this game is hosting it's own servers, I highly doubt it honestly, I'd assume it's P2P matches. More than likely, I'd say, the population of this game is like 99% Chinese. Which means, if you're English speaking, you're ping is going to be terrible unless you host your own game with a bunch of friends or something, and even then it's going to be iffy because to me it seems the game may use the Killer as the match host. I don't think there's a way to be a part of a group and start a match with someone in the group being the Killer, unless you play Werewolf.

Overall, good game though, mechanics are solid and make more sense than all of the similar games out on the market. Items and special abilities keep things fresh. Plenty of characters in game already, all of them feel pretty balanced. Lots of fashion for them also. Updates look promising.

This is how you do sequels. It's everything fans of the original liked with a lot more polish and about eight hundred times more content relationship leveling and character skills.

I'm not going to sit here and complain about the NPC's being genetic looking and in an entirely different art style, not a big deal to me. Not going to sit here and complain about the zombies being gross, they are zombies. My only complaint, and it's a weird one, is the grind. I feel it's way too forgiving, if not nearly entirely non-existent, and yeah I hear you as you say to me "That sounds great!". Usually I'd be right there with you! I hate the artificial grind devs throw in their game to prolong the scarce amount of content they've included, but with this game, I kind of wish I wasn't burning through the content so fast honestly.

Great game though, shooting feels fine, if not all that impactful, lots of weapons that all behave differently, RNG map layouts of items and weapons during missions makes each mission a bit easier or more difficult. Animations are pretty solid (Wish zombies had better animation blending, getting head shots is tough when their heads teleport to a different position after being shot).

Feels like I'll be playing this one for awhile! I look forward to the DLC releases.

This version of Onee Chanbara or Onichanbara is exactly the way I wanted all the other games. The graphics are outstanding, the effects are flooding the screen, animations smooth as silk and the controls are dead perfect. Combat feels as responsive as any Platinum game, add in the Onee Chanbara or Onichanbara staple "Cool Combo" timing mechanic and the ability to continue combo's where you left off after a dodge or weapon swap and it just feels sooo good.

Gameplay is straight up hack and slash, levels are linear, exploration is rarely rewarded all forgiven, the combat feels too good to complain about any of that. Heavy recommend.

I played the original Black Survival on mobile a long time ago. I'm not a fan of competitive games or do I enjoy Battle Royal type games, but I greatly enjoyed it's interesting spin on it. The world, the lore, and the characters gave a purpose for the game type with a strange emphasis to avoid battles early on and focus on crafting and building power before ambushing other unsuspecting people in order to be the last one alive.

Eternal Return: Black Survival takes the same formula and adds in the visuals I desperately wanted back when I played the original mobile game. The models and art style captures the character static art perfectly and the gathering, hiding, crafting, and possibly avoiding or going on a killing spree is all retained and expanded on. Unlike the original game where you went to an area and tapped the screen to search, you actively have to find search places as you run around.

This game is more about planning than it is about murder. Plotting routes to gather the materials you need for powerful gear as quick as possible is the prime objective. As areas start locking out, you'll find your routes and your plans fall apart and you have to scramble for alternatives, or everything can go perfectly and others start having to struggle. There's a lot of mechanics in play, to killing npc animals to improve your combat and hunting skills or simply running around to improve your movement speed with a skill leveling system taken straight from any popular moba, the game is honestly a very intriguing mix of various aspects combined in a way that just feels right.

While this game is still very new, there is a lot to love here. Even by people like me who don't normally enjoy these competitive pvp style games. Gathering, crafting, and hiding is equally relaxing and adrenaline inducing. For a free to play game that isn't demanding your money every screen, there is literally no reason not to give it a shot.
