Bad game: gameplay, plot, characters, writing, direction, voice acting.

I enjoyed the first game in the Tomb Raider reboot but found myself wanting the game to be over by about the halfway mark. The mechanics didn't feel better than in the previous game, and the climbing/cinematic running sequences got tiring for me. I also found the platforming to be a bit too janky (not grabbing ledges correctly, etc.). The plot also didn't capture my interest, so unfortunately I can't think of any particular reason to recommend this game. If you liked the previous game, then this is pretty much more of the same, but if not I wouldn't pick it up.

A beautifully told somber tale. No scares, no puzzles, no real gameplay to speak of. Still worth the two hours and twenty dollars, at least if you're up for a great, sad story.

I played The Talos Principle because of all the praise I heard for its interesting philosophies, but I was a bit disappointed by the game. The abstract concepts in the game weren't bad, but they weren't particularly novel or engaging. That being said, I did have some fun learning about the world of the game.

However, I found many of the puzzles to be mediocre. Most of their difficulty came from having to keep track of the state of many objects, not from having to think in new ways. I ended up looking up the solution for a few of the puzzles, and I did not regret doing so at all. I found these puzzles to be more frustrating than challenging, even though the game's overall difficulty was appropriate.

The Talos Principle is an okay puzzle game that presents somewhat worthwhile concepts in a fairly interesting way, but neither the gameplay nor the plot is compelling enough for me to recommend this game.

Borderlands 2 is a prime example of how a sequel should champion the strengths of the original game while fixing its weaknesses. The game has fun shooting mechanics, RPG elements that will keep you playing, expertly integrated humor, and a surprisingly compelling plot.

I had high hopes for Antichamber being a difficult puzzle game that challenged the paradigms I took for granted, but I was disappointed by the game. While some of the puzzles offered a twist that was either so cleverly unexpected it was fun or so unusual it was a challenge, I found most of the puzzles to be more irritating than worthwhile. With no story or characters to fall back on, this game has trouble offering a sufficient motivation to keep playing.

Gone Home is a well-written interactive story. It has little to offer in the vein of gameplay or puzzles, but it's a sufficiently thoughtful narrative to be worth the time. I wouldn't pay twenty dollars for it, but it's worth a few bucks in lieu of seeing a movie or reading a short story.

One of the best single-player campaigns I've ever played. Great story, interesting characters, fun gameplay.

Transistor is a remarkably well-crafted example of videogames' merits. Fun, artistic, captivating.

I bought this game on sale because it looked like a lot of fun and had such positive reviews. However, I only played a few hours of the game before getting bored of it. It felt like a much older game than 2010 - the gameplay felt predictable and not very exciting, unfortunately.
