Old game, but still great. It's too bad there won't be a Startopia 2. I would buy that before they could even think about making it buyable.

There are a few bugs with the game however, some fixes exist. If you get screen flickering, change the game to use Blip in the options. You'll figure out which option it is. Don't minimize the game or the flickering will come back.

On rare occasion, the sluggerpartments also causes the game to crash, save before you try to make one. Other than that, the game is rather nice.

I don't believe this game is realistic at all. I've tried many times to run a smooth country, and no matter how powerful my police force and military and such, I always always get assassinated after making the envirornment max, nice schools, delete the debt and start reducing taxes after, I make a very good country, and someone always assassinates me. This last time, by some group that was 50% happy with what I was doing! It makes no sense. Many things I change, effect things that it shouldn't, it's a big load of crap. I've tried three times now, and I'm sick of it, I never want to play again.

This is even more disappointing than StarDrive. The reason? Because this actually had a lot more potential and looked a lot better and the videos were great.

The videos draw you in, show a lot of exciting combat. You know what happens when you play?

Yep. You basically just end turn, a lot. The tutorial is terrible. It's a picture with text (Ok, an advanced picture with text). I lost my fleet because the tutorial came up and stopped me from clicking anything, I lost before I could finish reading the large volume of text information, and it canceled it's self so I couldn't finish learning battles. I tried a manual battle, it sucked. Auto is the way to go. Which kinda sucks too. There are only 3 ship classes you can use, this is after I researched 60% of the military research and 40% of everything else. It's a really long boring RTS with great graphics with misleading videos to get you to buy it.

This is the crashingest game ever made. Sitting here for 30 minutes doing one thing, crash. Load back up, auto save works great so. A raiding party is about to s... oh wait, nope, crash. Hey, whats this ove.. crash.

Don't get me wrong, the game does work to some extent, but its not finished, and its got a lot of bugs in it. The auto save is working great because you don't even see it saving and when you crash you expect to go way back but really you load up seconds from where you last were. Maybe a minute tops.

The game was abandon however, no one's working on it. Don't buy it unless it ends up below $2 tops.

Second Rating: Way way back, I rated this good because it was still getting updates and improving each update, but now I found out the game is going to be permanently in a state of alpha access because the developers decided to leave the project and keep all the money they got from it. Abandoning this game before it was ever complete. I haven't played it in a while, so I will try it again and see whats changed, however, the fact that the devs ditched the game, says that you shouldn't buy it.

Original Rating: I personally think this game has potential, it's in development still so the bad ratings are ignorant people who don't care that the game is still being developed. The game has improved a lot since I originally got it.

This isn't a game, it's a headache. It's basically the same exact thing as Star Ruler, only less NPC factions, and you get to somewhat customize your horribly designed ships that aren't even remotely symetrical half the time. 5 hours of playing and I barely managed to get very far at all, and the planet building sucks. It's just not worth the 75% off that I paid. I wouldn't buy this for any less than 90% off. Seriousy, just wow. I'm gonna go find something different for a while. This game gave me a headache with no enjoyment. I'll re-write this review if I need to after trying the game a few more times at a later date.

For a game that someone spent 11 years on, it's pretty terrible in it's current state. I'm going to try again but the last time I tried this, it was just terrible. Unplayably terrible.

Hell yea, this game is great! I loved playing it when it first came out long ago on Windows 98. :P Amazing game really. The HD update isn't all that great, all they did was change maybe 2 lines of code. HAH. But it's still a great game.

For anyone having any issue with the game,
Right click the game in your steam list, click properties, go to "betas" tab and select Beta 1 from the dropdown list. It contains directx9 rendering method which fixes a lot of issues.

It also gives you access to steam workshop for the game with downloadable quests made by players and other mods that players (like me) have made.

You also get the tools you need to make mods yourself and new quests.

For those of you interested in this game, please note that the game doesn't have much scientific value to it at all. There's virtually no scientific accuracy of any kind in the game. Thats what decreased my personal rating by 3 stars.

The game its self is fine in its current state, aside from crashing all the time on me for some reason that I can't quite yet figure out why. I'll edit this out if I can ever figure out why it is if I discover its my fault. Game has a good bug reporting tool built in to report crashes with though.

The sort of "campaign" that comes with the game is entirely broken now, not sure if they have plans to fix. -1 star on personal rating as a result as its only a minor portion of the game really.

The community however, is very toxic and its only a few people who are toxic, except these people are privileged members who get to say and do whatever they want for one reason or another and moderators don't give a rats ass. Actively bullying people they don't like until eventually the moderators bend to their will and ban the person who no one likes anymore. Its a rather toxic community and I've heard from other long term members that they also think so as well, but they don't come forward for fear of being accosted by the same people and such. This here decreases my personal rating by 4 stars, for a community is the greatest importance to any sandbox style games like this.

They released a deluxe DLC as well, that mearly gives you nothing but gold skins for your suit, playing game wise. Plus you get some original music tracks and artwork. Releasing this download content while still in Early Access, after 4+ years of development.

The game its self does appear to be in active development however, it seems they are sticking with it like a good company should do, instead of abandoning and running off with the money like certain other companies (Star Forge).

I find myself returning to the game on occasion, making mods to try and fix some of the unrealistic things in the game. Even still I get accosted for mentioning the word realism by gameplay elitists who have no idea the difference between soft realism and hard realism and all they do is call me a realism elitist every time they hear the word realism.

Really, I think the devs should take a look at their community, and put a stop to the bullying/trolling that goes on, and the place will start to feel better and friendlier to others. I don't see this happening though, unfortunately.

Really nice space game, like Freelancer and EVE but not a job and has actual space physics. There is a demo on the official site.

Awesome single player/multiplayer game where you can work together with friends or NPCs to hoard as much gold as you can get!
