Hello everyone
I have been a Contest player since the game's Age of Ultron update
I am a valiant player and i am a player who has been playing this game for a decade by now
this is a proper review of the pc port and the game in general in which case I will start in the game itself as a lot of new players will probably try this game due to the Marvel IP associated with it

Gameplay 5/10

The gameplay in itself is pretty linear and average at most nothing much to comment here other than certain characters and nodes do spice up the gameplay a bit and make it more enjoyablle to play but the combat by itself is very linear

Story Content 8/10

The story content itself is fine but because of the incredibly easy difficulty it gets boring after some time (due to the linear combat), there is a reason after all why Kabam shortened the act 1-3 chapters to just have 1 chapter in comparision to the others so new players wouldn't spend that long in the earlier much boring parts of the game before getting to the more juicy/higher difficulty part of the main story (nodes to enhance the difficulty and gameplay loop)
The reward in itself for the earlier chapters are much better as they were updated of course
However rewards for act 4-6 are mediocre at most and don't deserve to be fully explored even act 7's rewards are becoming outdated as of nowadays
Another bad thing about this game is the way the player progresses through the game
At first it's ok, complete the current story chapters and and hitting collected and cavalier is still easy however by thronebreaker and especially paragon it becomes increasingly difficult for the player to progress either having to spend most of your day/weeks grinding to meet up rank up requirements or you can just choose to dump your entire month's worth of a paycheck into this game there is a reason why there was major controversy when paragon dropped and I believe the videos can still be found on youtube
In hindsight getting to thronebreaker by itself is difficult/unenjoyable for players due to the unfun nodes and a serious difficulty spike
its's much less difficult that when act 6 first released as it was a difficult and unenjoyable mess
so much so that kabam has delivered several fixes and adjustments to make it much less unenjoyable but it is still a very crazy shift in difficulty and is mostly unenjoyable node wise so it is MUCH more difficult to get to act 7 in which the game it turns relitavely enjoyable
Only act's worth exploring to 100% is
act 1
act 2
act 3
Mostly to get a bit of a headstart in rewards
Act 7 (optional, it's ok but it wouldn't hurt to skip exploration)
Act 8
Only acts that you should NEVER explore is
Act 4
Act 5
Act 6
These 3 have outdated rewards which WON'T help you whatsoever in the long run it's better to just skip these it's a waste of units and energy

Endgame/Challenging Content 9.5/10

It's quite decent
The Legends quadrilogy is by all accounts ok at most
Realm of legends is still worth exploring as the rewards for a new player are very good and it's pretty easy now due to the fact of several overpowered champions being released who can deal insane amounts of damage and get a pretty solid clear
However Labyrinth of legends and abyss of legends is NOT worth completing not even a first clear
once again it's a waste of units/revives
The rewards are incredibly outdated and NOT worth even a first clear
Everything else is alright to complete just get ready to empty your units/wallet for revives

Side quests 2/10

Not worth doing
Side quests have 1-5 generic map layouts with nothing unique or entertaining whatsoever to make it fun it's do this side quest 3-4 times and get your rewards it's not worth doing at all

Story 4/10

The story is nothing special at most it has gotten confusing and tangled over the years however this much I can give credit to
Everyone in the story behaves and act like they are supposed to
The character writing is very on point and that much I can commend Kabam for
Spider man cracks quips, Doctor Doom behaves like a narcissist and is hostile to reed, and iron man behaves like he would in the movies
I was one of the few players who never skipped the story and enjoyed the dialogue but I stopped caring when Kabam stopped caring about the contests lore, that's when I quit caring
Isophyne is a character which completely breaks the already established contest's lore their whole existence is a BIG plothole
It is stated from the The Age of the Sentry Motion Comic video
That the collector was there since he was young and seems to know the entire contest's story
from the 1st ever contest
So with that established, you mean to tell me that he didn't know the iso sphere was a living sentient being and was willingly offering it to the summoner (the protagonist) and Kang?
So if Kabam doesn't care about the story
Why should you?

State of the Game 2/10

It's not good
If you plan on playing this game casually don't
Players were complaining about the rewards for YEARS
whenever it was underwhelming the community would complain
whenever rewards were great Kabam proceeded to nerf the rewards
Finally after some time the rewards were good in the mysterium store
and players were happy
However due to these SAGA'S the rewards are left in this mediocre state where there is no change whatsoever while Kabam puts focus on the sales
Remember when I stated that side quests were not worth doing in the game because they were boring and the layout was repetitive this is why
Good luck trying to play the game as f2p because if you don't pump money into this game you won't enjoy it whatsoever
Another thing to note is if you are a new player you won't have fun whatsoever There is a LOT of things to learn in this game and with 200+ champions it's not gonna get much easier, for any kabam dev reading this do you remember when someone in the now defunct Transformers Forged to Fight forums said to cut the brakes in mcoc and add more stuff tftf claiming that mcoc players were becoming overwhelmed with new content yeah this is clear as day now and it won't stop any time soon if you want to take a break for 2-3 months good luck getting back in the game and for new players with the amount of characters and the amount of specials to learn to dodge new players will not have a fun time

I don't recommend this game whatsoever
