It's been a hella journey to reach this point, but I have to shutdown VanillaBot now.

I start making VanillaBot at ‎14 ‎August ‎2017, because I have come free time on College, and ArchiSteamFarm bot [github.com] don't have feature that I need. It run on Raspberry Pi 3, and developed by myself using node-js. Because i'm unfamiliar with C#, I'm unable to fork ArchiSteamFarm and add the feature myself, so I have to start from scratch.

After a month, I got a working prototype of VanillaBot, that just simply log in and listen chat. Few days later, I added bunch of feature that I need, but still unable to do trade. Working Trading feature finally got added about 2 months later. Later at the same month, I added 1:1 background and emoticon trade, and added 1:1 non-marketable card trade (it's annoying to manually trade non-marketable card with random people).

Problem arise at some point when VanillaBot unable to check trade status [dev.doctormckay.com]. I make simple workaround for this, but same problem happens few months later when Steam decided to ban low effort game for card farming (which turn marketable card into non-markebatle card). I tried checking marketable status, and use "This item can no longer be bought or sold on the Community Market" phrase, but VanillaBot still think that it's marketable card. This only affect newer card, and not older card. I tried removing non-marketable card trade, but a many people complain that they don't like it, so I have to keep the code.

Second problem is I have slow internet connection, and I use Raspberry Pi (very small computer) to run VanillaBot. Because my unstable connection, VanillaBot often goes offline for a while, and when logged in and got too many trade offer at once, VanillaBot got rate-limited. When that happens, I have to manually reject those trade offer so VanillaBot can run again.

Third problem is I no longer have time to maintain VanillaBot anymore. I graduated, got a job, and no longer interested with Steam. Sometimes Steam introduce new "feature" that may or may not break VanillaBot, which is annoying to deal with.

Because of all of that, I shutdown VanillaBot for good. Inventory will be privated, and STM trade bot status will be removed. If you know JavaScript and want to make yourown VanillaBot, feel free to check VanillaBot's Github page [github.com].
