This is the most impressive rogue-like I have ever played. CoND beautifully integrates tile based combat with music. Each turn lasts for a beat of the current level's song, leading to fun, fast paced action. Even during early access it felt like a complete game, and the full release is a masterpiece.

The controls are easy and straighforward, requiring only the arrow keys to play. The graphics are simple but well made.

The music is great. The soundtrack was composed by Danny B, and each song is edited masterfully into the game. CoND lets you use your own music for the levels, but I have never done it because I love the core soundtrack so much. Despite hearing the songs hundreds of times, I never get tired of them.

The various weapons and equipment provide a wide variety of play styles and item interactions. The enemies are well designed, each with varying movement and attack mechanics. The boss fights are unique and wonderful experiences. Each one is musically themed, and the varying musical styles reinforces the awesomeness of the game's music.

There is a very large amount of content and replayability. Between items, enemies, and floor layouts, there is a lot of variation between runs. There are high score and fastest time leaderboards which are very competitive, and people frequently race the game live. CoND can be very difficult at first because you have to learn each weapon's mechanics and each enemy's attack patterns, but there are many tutorial and training mechanisms built into the game. Practicing is well worth the time, and mastering the game is very rewarding.

I recommend this game to anyone. It is an absolute must play if you like rogue-likes or music based games.

A wonderful short and simple platformer. The art style and music are great and perfectly mesh to form great atmospheres, and the levels are fun and diverse. The gameplay is simple and fun with decent controls. It does not take long to finish, but there is a good amount of secret items hidden in the levels if you care to explore. This game is probably best for younger audiences, but I still recommend it for anyone. Because of the short length, I would wait for the game to go on sale for less than 5 USD.

Overall, Castle of Illusion is full of childlike wonder and is extremely pleasant to play.

Absolutely beautiful game. The art, sound, and music are amazing. The story is intriguing, though not as much is explained as I would like. There are hints of deeper secrets in the game, but that is left to the imagination.

The gameplay was odd at first, but once a few abilities are unlocked it becomes pretty good. Each ability can serve three functions, which creates a lot of variety with many combos. I liked the "Turn" system which makes the game more strategy oriented (especially compared to Bastion). The game is pretty linear, consisting of progressing between arena-like areas, but the environments keep everything feeling new and fresh.

I loved the writing. Each ability comes with a character backstory that is unlocked by using each of the ability's functions. Each time I got a new ability I quickly used each function just so I could read the fascinating backstories.

Overall, this was a pretty good game. I recommend it to anyone.

I almost chose to not recommend this game. It is very clunky. There are bugs, there are typos, there are poor translations.

However, it is a very interesting game. The setting is dark and atmospheric despite the simplistic graphics. The writing is pretty good, and optional text provides backstory that I enjoyed reading. The story is decent, with three major endings, each involving aligning with a certain faction.

The gameplay is okay. There is a fairly wide variety of stats, abilities, and weapons to allow you to customize your play style. Many missions provide multiple ways of completing objectives. The tutorial videos do not teach you enough yet somehow drag on. However, once you get going you start to get comfortable with how to play. EYE does not always convey information clearly. It was sometimes difficult for me to tell where I was getting shot from, sometimes mission objectives were unclear.

The music and sounds aren't the highest quality, but they suit the mood of the game.

I don't think there's much replay value aside from getting the different endings. Subsequent playthoughs go by much quicker because you know what to do and you can keep the same character (with stats/upgrades/etc.) for the next run.

Overall, I enjoyed playing the game. I recommend it to anyone who likes cyberpunk, dark atmospheric storytelling, and dialog trees.

Unfortunately this game crashes a lot for me. I'm not sure if the problem is too widespread, but for my computer (GTX 650, 64bit W7), the game crashes every 3-5 minutes. The game is quick to put you back to the last checkpoint you reached, so it is not terrible, just frustrating, and I have not found a solution to fix the problem.

As far as the game goes, it seems decent. This is the type of game where you almost always fail a puzzle at least once before you will know how to complete it, which I am not a fan of. It is still fun and rewarding for each segment you complete.

In addition, the controls seem kind of sloppy. It is very easy to make a mistake that you didn't intend to do, despite knowing full well what it is you're trying to do. This makes it difficult to determine whether you are failing a segment because you aren't doing the correct action or because of the controls (usually ended up being the latter).

Overall though, I do like the game. I like the art style and the minimalist story is interesting. I likely would have completed the game had it not been for the crashes. From what I hear, it is a very good game, so you may want to try it for a different platform. But I cannot recommend this version how it is.

If you like the original BoI, this game is a must. If you like games with rogue-like elements, I highly recommend this game.

Rebirth greatly expands upon the original BoI. New items, item synergies, enemies, bosses, characters, rooms, challenges, etc. The amount of content in this game is staggering, which is both good and bad. Yes, there is more to experience, but there is also a lot luck involved. Some item combinations are incredibly overpowered, but some items are nearly useless. It can also be difficult to keep track of what each item does without outside resources.

The new engine works great, a vast improvement over BoI (which used Flash). The game runs smoothly, the controls are simple and tight, and I've yet to encounter a single bug.

Overall, this game is great. Rebirth is well worth paying full price.

A very fun and unique SHMUP. Taking possession of enemy ships is very fluid and adds a very interesting spin. The controls are tight, the music is okay, the graphics are good enough. It is not very difficult, but there is still potential for high-score competition.

The plot is great and mirrors the possession mechanic. The way in which the plot is revealed is cool and adds to replayability, which is good because it is fairly short. Overall I greatly enjoying playing this game.

I recommend this game only to those who like JRPGs, especially fans of the early Final Fantasy games. In particular, this game mirrors the original Final Fantasy (and improves upon almost every aspect). I imagine that the developers' goal was to "remake" FF1, or at the very least they loved it greatly and wanted to pay homage to it. Last Dream is a worthy successor.

Beautiful music, good art. Decent battle system, very interesting leveling system that offers a lot of customization, though certain classes inherently must build a particular way. Unlike FF1, LD is much less linear with many choices and sidequests throughout the game. The story is okay, the writing is decent.

My major complaint is poor development of map exploration constraints. FF1 did a great job of guiding the player to appropriate locations so that it was difficult to be overwhelmed by opponents. LD opens up too many exploration options at once. Often I would enter an area and not realize I wasn't strong enough until the first battle wiped my party. In some instances, the stronger enemies would be merely one screen away from the main progress route. If you play this, I highly recommend using the "Save Anywhere" option to avoid frustrations.

A fun RPG styled after a group of people playing DnD. There's a decent amount of customization with a good variety of characters and classes. The writing is pretty good.

My main complaint is the game really drags on towards the end. The entire game is combat and dialogue, and the combat doesn't vary much, so after a while it gets extremely repetitive. I ended up skipping half the sidequests because I just wanted to be done.

If you enjoy DnD I highly recommend this game. Otherwise, it is a decent RPG worth paying a few dollars.

Wow, I was not expecting this game to be so good! Great art and music style. Tight controls. Fun and diverse combat system. Story is decent, and the writing is really good. A lot of good humor in this game. There's all kinds of video game and internet references, which normally might get on my nerves, but it's well blended with the style of the game and is mostly in the background.

I highly recommend this game to anyone.
