ABZÛ is an artistical masterpiece that has players explore the depths of the sea as a diver, who's discovery of the numerous ocean biomes and creatures leads to the truth of the diver's origin and purpose.

Visually and melodically stunning, ABZÛ shines with mezmerizing sea biomes each perfectly paired with their own music scores. From the god rays beaming through the water and sea vines, the 100+ sea creatures realistically dancing amongst each other, to the vibrant colors bursting with life, ABZÛ is dazzling. The melodies are unforgettable and they will send you on an emotional roller-coaster! I can't remember the last time I smiled this much playing a game as I have with ABZÛ, there's something about gracefully swimming next to a giant blue whale or briskfully darting through a Jetstream that brings so much joy that i've never experienced before! Oh, and ABZÛ in VR is AMAZING. If you have a VR headset you can use VorpX software to convert it.

Although gameplay and story are not the strongest points of ABZÛ, there's enough to keep the player moving and engaged through the journey. Most of the player interaction is through trivial puzzles involving friendly sea robots to break through barriers and checkpoints. Maneuvering in the sea is easy and simple, however the camera movement could be a bit smoother.

ABZÛ's story is mainly told in an abstract way through wall murals and paintings that keep the player wondering their purpose and origin. It's enough to give a foundation for the protagonist's background and meaning in the sea world, but not much more than that. However, ABZÛ does give off that mysterious wonder feeling.

The tale of ABZÛ is a short one, with my "no rock left unturned" run-through lasting roughly 4.5 hours, however, most people will probably finish it even faster. For $19.99 it can initially seem as a high amount for a short time, but the sheer joy and beauty I experienced in that 4.5hrs made it worth the price. The replay value comes from obtaining all the collectables by going back to previous chapters and finding the ones you missed in your first playthrough. Getting all the collectables rewards you with a super scuba suit that allows for very fast movement, so, it can be rewarding.

At the end of the day ABZÛ defines how a video game can be a work of art. I've never experienced something quite like it. Bursting through the ceiling of the ocean on the back of a football field sized blue whale, discovering a shark with a table saw blade-like teeth formation (yes it's real! Look up helicoprion shark), and stumbling upon an ancient underwater civilization. ABZÛ made me smile time and time again at it's splendor. You have to experience it for yourself- dive in and try it!

Don't be so afraid of the Great White Shark!
