This game seems like it's a great sequel with tons of new content, and it honestly runs fine on my PC that is pretty far below recommended specs. However, this game is pretty much unplayable for me in its current state for one really stupid reason.

When renaming roads, you can't change where they start and end like you could in the first game.

I really love being able to name the roads, and even though you can in this game as well, the tool doesn't really work if the game decides for you where the roads start and end.

I'm refunding this game for now, but if this is changed in an update I will gladly rebuy it even at full price and update this to a positive review.

this is certainly the game i've ever played

edit after 100%: gonna make a youtube video about this game sometime when i get the chance. overall a very good yet deeply flawed game. biggest complaint is that the secret ending is incredibly unsatisfying

Original review, after about 1.5 hours: Obviously I haven't played this game very much, so I'll update this review if my mind changes (which it very well could). But so far, I'm unimpressed. The game is chock-full of boring gameplay, ugly environments, average story, and ridiculous 4th-wall breaks. The "puzzles" are also annoying and time consuming, and require more trial and error than real puzzle solving skills. So far, I have yet to find the charm or hidden beauty most everyone seems to find in this game, but I'm going to try to finish the game to see if there's more than meets the eye.

Edit after beating the game: This game is hands down the worst game I have ever played. Everything I said before this edit still holds true, but I am feeling even more strongly about the negatives after I have beaten the game.

First off, the puzzles and gameplay are horrendous. Nothing has any logic attached to it, and I found myself reaching for a walkthrough constantly because the puzzles don't require skill, they require trying a bunch of random stuff until something works, which usually means walking around the map for an hour looking for items. I am just not invested in puzzles that don't require puzzle solving skills. The two puzzles (the goat and color code puzzles) that required some actual thought and gameplay felt like a breath of fresh air. A game should have gameplay? Right?

Next, the environments and art are as ugly as could be. Obviously the still illustrations look great, but THAT ISN'T THE GAME. The game should look nice while you're playing it. Every environment has washed out colors, disgusting pixel art character models, and the same buildings over. and over. and over again. It makes any atmosphere this game could've had go down the drain.

Finally, the story is mediocre at best. I didn't find the ending as emotional as everyone said it should be, partially because I wasn't invested in any of the characters or the world they inhabit from the get-go. (I will also say that I didn't go into the final section completely blind, but I don't feel like that made much of a difference.) No matter what ending you choose, you don't get to see the consequences, which makes the entire game feel meaningless. Your actions should have effects on the game world for them to feel like it matters.

I feel like I shouldn't be saying that this is the worst game I've ever played, but here's my thinking. This game is absolutely unfun and boring, but it isn't bad enough to cross into the "so bad it's good" territory. There is absolutely nothing I can pull from this, and it just felt like a complete waste of time. I'm also not usually such a big contrarian, so don't tell me I'm only saying this to be different from everyone else. I absoutely hate this game.

(also it would be nice if they deleted the malware. you can't even close the game from task manager in some of the parts? huh?)

Edit 2: I forgot to mention how much the soundtrack sucks. Playing the same three notes over and over again with some weak drums isn't good music. Come on guys. It makes me want to fall asleep even more than the game does by itself.

Complete waste of money. Probably my least favorite game ever made. I have no motivation to play it.

Edit: this is no longer my least favorite game because I played OneShot. somehow it's even worse

This game is chock-full of psychedelic beauty, making lots of use of some of the most trippy and creepy visuals I have ever seen. The game also has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard, coming from Brian Gibson, an artist well-versed in dark, technical noise rock. These two things combined create an unparalleled experience that you have to try to understand, one totally deserving of its rhythm, horror, and action descriptors. You also haven't played this game until you've experienced it in VR, as the immersion in the headset is unreal. The game is slightly difficult, but still completely fair, and it has a nice difficulty curve to it. It also has endless replayability, with it's multiple game modes, ability to climb up the leaderboards, and high-score chasing gameplay. From the visuals,
to the gameplay, to the music, and on and on, this game is everything I hoped for and more, and I would've paid full price for it (thankfully though, I got it on sale). Definitely pick this one up if you get a chance, this game will stand the test of time.

Terribly made game that functions only as a joke. I could go into detail about all the bugs and flaws in this game but that would just be a waste of time. Thank god it's free, don't waste your time with it though.

It's not very exciting, but I don't think it needs to be. Driving this virtual truck is a pretty zen and relaxing experience that most games don't offer. The map is very well made and expansive, and there's tons of DLC if you get bored of the base game (which I personally haven't yet). If you want action and adventure in all your games, this isn't for you, but it's definitely a nice way to pass the time.
