CS 1 personally was better in my opinion in terms of its overall enjoyment and options available. To elaborate, the game even when it was not free I felt offered more to the user for their buck so to speak (time), then what is offered currently in CS2. Despite the hacker issues CSGO has always had, the introduction of prime did have some hackers stray away, however this without a new anti cheat could not be helped. The game offered a fun (all be it flawed) ranking system, that was very challenging, even borderline rage inducing at time, but that is what made it challenging and different from other competitive shooters. Making every rank up, and the road to it, so fulfilling and enjoyable. Especially when you found a good team to play with. In fact many of my friends I game with to this day I met in a random csgo competitive match. Many players took competitive fairly seriously, and so communication was key, and was often times had in matches, however in CS2 this is not the case, and I'd say the introduction of premier and map specific ranks vs 1 total rank overall, has drastically brought down the player base that it once had and the enjoyment competitive brought. With that most people do not care about their rank or if they lose or win a match, because a point system means each match you will go up or down, but there is no title associated with it, and there is no fun in guessing if you'll get that next rank up or not or de rank. Meaning you always had to play your best because you never knew the outcome. Additionally, because each map has it's own rank most people don't care if they lose a match, because they have several ranks on various ones, and it doesn't really matter. It took away the fun or putting a Q of all the maps and learning them cohesively for your overall rank, vs just one map for 1 rank. With all this in mind, most players iv'e encoutered in all my play time thus far on CS2 do not talk and do not care about the match, making it less enjoyable. And when maps are cared about, and you win, I never feel satisfied or get that wow moment, or the fun I once did, because I see my rank and then I see multiple other ranks, that are lower or higher, not motivating me to push further for my rank, as I now want to get them all to the same level making me care less. The point system in premier is the same way, I know how much I will lose or win, an in any event, it is not the same as a rank, and so when in a game and I see a player with 20k points vs 14k I do not get the same distinction or awe I use to when I would see lets say a MG 2 and a LE in the same game. Moving forward, in CSGO 1 there was a vast amount of public servers always populated, and events going on at certain times that the whole community was invested in, even live matches between teams broad cast from the mane menu people would watch. However in comparison, CS2 feels lacking. Overall the graphics are better, and the game feels fairly good, but CS has never been a game most players play for beauty. With that, I think it is a great game with great promise, however lacks the main component it once had pushing it to be a competitive, fun shooter for those to grind out and improve to go up the ranks, I think with the implementation of a ranking system similar to that of the old CSGO, it could have great promise!
