Can't play casual because every game is filled with Bots,

can't play Ranked because nobody is touching it

Can't play MVM because 2K tour scrubs keep yelling slurs at me for using the Gas passer

Can't play community servers because the good ones all need me to be @200+ ping to even play which just sucks

I have sunk around two weekends worth of time into this, I regret nothing.

Except custom servers, those are hell pits that don't really feel like fun when you're surrounded by other players who look like they've actually spent IRL cash to get bonus perks that make it basically impossible to play if you're not in the loop... IE I found myself on a server that had COD perks like a UAV and other "perks" like that which doesn't mesh with how I would prefer playing the game

Community servers that run Official Rules are also meh... i guess mainly in terms of queue priority though where you can get kicked if you haven't paid for a VIP queue slot but at least those you can at least expect your opponent to play fair if you can get in

The trailer says it all, this isn't supposed to be a big game, It's just a relaxing puzzle (slowly becomes less so once you make a misstep that costs you your highscore) game with pretty islands to build pretty cities on.

I've noticed that the negative reviews are all asking for this game to be more than what it is, but it isn't.
Islanders is a fine game that doesn't need any more depth than what its got.
It's a little shallow, but this doesn't need it to let you lose yourself in the gameplay loop.

I find it perfect for me when I want to kill some time and unwind between online zoom classes that can just be draining

Slightly deceptive since for the longest time I’ve only played fighting games on arcade consoles and that i feel like I need to buy an arcade-style controller to properly play the game to the fullest

It's fun. endgame content is lacking though, there's only so many ways you can replay the ONE story DLC but apart from that, it's a good game.
