I would go as far as to say that D4 is the best game Blizzard has made so far.

It has the same feel and atmosphere as D2 but with a class build system that actually engages the mind,
It has me working on my build in a way that really paves a way in coherency with the intended archetype I am after and when the build is reached it has a kind of integrity that I haven´t seen in any hack and slash game ever. It is even possible to create defensive builds that manage to be effective and coherent towards the thought put into it, it is defensive but it packs a punch through indirect means and it actually works.

I have made a druid build with all three companion skills, the cataclysm ultra and two basic skills as both primary and secondary attacks and I managed to reach the Nightmare setting at level 33! It was really rewarding to be able to play in such a way while also being martially effective!

It is a game that surprises me in fun ways when I don´t expect it and it is a true hack and slash, I never thought I would see the day that happened!

This is based on having skipped the campaign and going straigth into open world so I can not speak for the campaign, my review is entirely based on my experience of the season during which I write this interview, leveling and making builds I find interesting.

The pace and tempo of the game is enjoyable, relaxing at times and demanding at others.

One of the better management games out there, at the same level of quality in terms of enjoyability as Foundation and the older Settlers games, Settlers 2 in particular.

My conclusion: it is great!

A great game, the building and hero management is more extensive than in any other Total War title, including Warhammer Total War.

Battles are smooth, animations are on point.

If you own most of the DLCs and all three games it becomes the most extensive light-4X with realtime battles there is, as things are.

It being expensive to buy if you haven´t been buying the games since launch is true, though it does not affect my review.

I have fond memories of playing this with my uncle as a kid.

I lost most of the time, he is something of a strategic savant and I am clearly quite mediocre but still, I enjoyed playing a host of board games and PC-games with him.

HoMMII is my all time favourite but this is doubtlessly in the same league in terms of quality,

The only game that I´ve ever played that manages to combine the *experience* of a point and click-adventure with the *experience* of a CRPG,

I am still playing after launching the game for the first time 4,5 hrs in, and I truly feel like I am building a person.. an actual person, not just a class, or a build or a role, but a person..

The closest thing to The Settlers 2 there is, since The Settlers 2.

I make this comparison for two reasons.

The first being that The Settlers 2 was *the* game of the genre for 30 years, in my opinion.

The second being that this is the *only* game since then that manages to serve the same function as playing The Settlers 2 does.

The Settlers 2 is the best, and so is Foundation. :)

Best TT imo.

Lacks Depth, entirely.

Play ESO instead....
