This game is an insult to the platform fighting genre. One of the most unfinished games that is branded as a full release. It is laughable at moments where attacks go through models with no hit registration. While other times there would be attacks where it doesn't even seem close to hitting but for some reason they register. I don't understand why they would implement/discard features such as being able to hit each other at the same time or removing attack decay, which lowers the overall skill gap of the game. There would be matches that seem like you would've won if this dev team actually worked on the core gameplay instead of a pvp mode that no one genuinely plays or enjoys outside of getting Agent Smith. It seems like there was little to no play testing which becomes more evident as you play with the majority of the roster (highlighted characters being Iron Giant, Wonder Woman, Joker, Bugs). The imbalance and the randomness of games makes it hard to be taken as a serious competitive fighting game. Paired with the mediocrity that they consider stages. No one has a favorite stage but plenty of people have their most hated stages. There's a laundry list of glitches, bugs, and technical issues with this game that would turn this review into a eulogy. It's egregious how much I have to compensate in terms of my play style due to the sheer brokenness of this game. The irony of the developer being called "Player First Games" when the game is in a state where it's a far cry from that self proclaimed title. You can really tell that this is their first game by the overall lack of direction and miscued prioritization of development from when this game went dark for over a year. There's no roadmap or specific details given to the community about the near future of the game. Only very ambiguous timestamps such as "upcoming patch or future changes". It just leaves players in the dark and diminishes the value of communication between the player and the developers. Not to mention the uninspired skins such as simply putting a Batman shirt or Jason mask on a character and having the gull to try and charge people money for such lackluster work. I genuinely regret buying the founder's pack. This game left me jaded from all of the bs I had to go through during most of my play sessions. The only times I truly had fun with this version of the game was with friends but that can be said about most games regardless of the quality. I wish this game was developed by a veteran fighting game studio that actually knew what they were doing and actually utilize the amount of Ips that's in the WB vault. At the very least we would have a fully fledged game with a ranked mode by now if this game was in different hands. Only thing they have going for them is that it's free to play. Outside of that I don't really see the value of putting time into this game unless you're a WB superfan or if you're into masochism.
