After sinking over 150 hours into this game and buying the second one as well I can gladly say that this is a good game but it isn't without it's flaws,

The races in this game are all very varied with interesting mechanics and varied starts different races feel like a whole new expierence each time. Along with the fact that some races have different starting locations which make you face different enemies and challenges, it all adds up to a game that you want to come back to just to find out how to use this race effectively.

Combat in this game remains the solid combat total war is known for but slightly more interesting with you having to vary your tactics to accomidate for the faction that you are fighting makes it very interesting and tactically varied. This is slightly nullified by the AI being slightly predictable with a tendancy to blob but as far as AI goes it is mostly solid and can test you most of the time.

The dlc policy in this game is slightly agressive with you being charged for blood and gore but I would reccomend that apart from the call of the beastmen dlc they all add something significant to the game and add an intersting and unique new camapain to play. Even the blood and gore dlc is worth it adding in extremly satisfying animations and the fact that you only have to buy it once makes it much better than it was at the start.

Last but not least the main bit of this game is the campains where you have to micro your way through a massive world map doing tasks like building new military structures to upgrade troops to stronger ones or working on your economy. This section of the game is very interesting and quite well structured but can have a tendancy to get slightly grindy towards the end where you have destroyed all main form of oppositon and are just spamming out money buildings whilst you work on painting the map. Though at this point of the campain you are usually done with it and it usually ends soon.

All in all I would reccomend this to anyone who is looking for a strategy game that is fun, gory and slightly more simple than some on the market. I would say to get it on a deal and pick up the blood and gore dlc to get that extra bit of satisfaction that comes with your enemies exploding. Overall 8 / 10 some flaws but mostly solid gameplay mechanics and fun combat.
