Meh. I'm glad I got it on sale because it was a very short experience and somewhat frustrating, at least with the companions I got. None of them seemed to realize we charge eachothers flight with our chirps, so while I would often follow them and chirp 'em up nice'n'good they would just use that power to fly away from me while I'm stuck on the ground. That ended up making it more annoying than it would have been just by myself, but I kept wanting to give them chances because it seems like the kind of game that would be much better done cooperatively. Thing is, now its over and I don't feel the need to play it again. $2.50 an hour aint so bad, but I would would have regretted it if I bought the game at full price.

I'm not much of a gamer as I get older. Its just harder to get into and when I do its usually for the story. Because of this I mainly play walking simulator-esque games. Things like Life is strange that have simple mechanics, but make you feel a lot of things and are very fulfilling experiences. The Witcher 3 is probably my most played game though, because I initially pirated it and played it a ton before I was able to purchase it. You can probably double the hours I've got into it on my profile.

So many little quests have weight to them. They don't usually feel like mindless tasks thanks to the writing team. Exploring everything also feels good, because there is always something. If you use your witcher sense everywhere, you start to discover hidden signs and doorways. The question marks on the map really draw you taking the long route to the next quest so you can uncover lots of stuff on the way. There is just the right amount of stuff to do on the side that you have plenty of choice without feeling overwhelmed or railroaded through the main quest lines.

There are so many cool inclusions the like DRM and GOG references in the tower quest. Its been too long so I don't remember the context but I know I haven't laughed as hard in any other game as I did when Geralt gets drunk at Kaer Morhen. You really care about characters like Ciri and Dandelion. You can play it forever and still uncover hidden little details and links and referneces and events/characters that only show up under specific conditions or unlock something else.

The game is beautiful. Even after all these years it looks amazing. Especially when the sun is setting. But even aside from the beautiful rendering, just the armor and clothing designs are so great looking. I've never cosplayed but if I did I'd want to be Geralt because you have so many different outfits in varying styles that all look badass.

Combat is fun. You can play however you want. Whether its a tank and melee, or specializing in signs, or alchemy and bombs. Gwent, is a really fun side game. Good enough they turned it in to a real game after this. Its easy at first and then as you start to play against other kinds of decks you have to really start changing strategies and often rebuild your deck for specific characters and how they play. Buy every card you see as soon as you see it. Money shouldn't be an issue if you loot everything you find (increase carrying capacity too!)

So many good things to say, but this is an unorganized and impromptu review. I say get it. Especially since it goes on sale so often. Especially since it includes the DLC which I've yet to play. I've seen several people say they are even better than the main game so I have a ton to look forward too.

Damn, what a game. I don't have time to write a big long review right now, but this is the pinnacle of VR games, and just a good game in its own right regardless of the tech involved. I can't think of another game I've spent $60 on, but I't happy I got this one.
