Recently there was an issue with Linux compatibility, while the issue isnt fully fixed, there is a workaround, discovered by (or at least he pointed it out to me) Bilbo Fraggins , put 'SteamDeck=1 %command%' in your launch options. Now onto my actual review

The best comparison I can make for this game is Doom. Doom has been my favorite ultra violent shooter game for some time now, but I think SM2 just dethroned it.
Where Doom is lightweight, fast paced, and floaty, SM2 is heavy, slow placed, and grounded. In Doom you don't feel your walk cycle, you seem to glide and float around. On the other hand, you feel every step a space marine takes in SM2. Just walking around in the battle barge, each step thudding against the floor, you feel like your character weighs 1000 pounds.... Because he does.... Running doesn't quite feel like that one scene from Astartes, but it's damn close
Moving onto combat. SM2 has a good set of weapons to choose from, and me having a bottomless pit for a brain, pretty much exclusively uses the plasma pistol and chain sword. Nothing against the bolters or other ranged/melee weapons. I have used them, I do use them from time to time because they're good, they feel good to use and they hit like trucks. However, I haven't played many games, that let me hold a pistol that liquefies the enemies of the imperium, AND a chainsaw sword at the same time, and there's something I just like about that combination. The animations are fluid and smooth, yet they have force and murderous intent. I especially like that the "glory kill" animations have a free camera, so you can see yourself scattering xenos viscera from whatever angle you see fit.
Story wise.... Eh? I mean it wasn't a bad story by any means, and I was able to follow it just fine. I kinda just turned off my brain and mindlessly slaughtered everything for 9 hours, and that's good enough for me.
I will also comment on this, the decision to make all cosmetics only earnable by actually playing the game. Lots of other games would resort to making you pay for them or making the grind to get them unbearably difficult for someone with a life while offering a 30-50 dollar option to purchase them. But in this case it's not a difficult grind, and even the DLC cosmetics need to be earned, which I think is a good thing. You're giving the game more content and extending its life rather than the player paying to remove more of the game for themselves.
Last two things I want to touch on:
Linux support, big thanks to the devs for thinking of the little guy here. As a Linux user I am quite pleased that this game runs flawlessly on Linux, despite the hiccup they had shortly after launch.
Lastly, thanks for keeping politics, diversity, and inclusion out of the game. It doesn't belong here, it wouldn't fit right with the lore or the style of the game. Just because a few people think we need that stuff doesn't mean the rest of us need to have it shoved down our throats in yet another game, where all we want to do is slaughter the enemies of the god emperor, our undying lord.
