I wasn't sure what to think going into it. I'm a huge fan of the books and a setting like dune has a lot of potential to be bad if handled poorly. Thankfully though they did a great job with it. On top of that the devs have been incredibly responsive to feedback and have made a lot of rapid improvements to fix some of the bigger issues. All things considered though this was by far the best launch experience I have ever had for an online game I have ever played.

It's not often a game hooks you like this one does. In just a couple days I clocked in almost 60 hours. It was an absolute blast and will be one I keep coming back to. The game play loop is great, the mechanics are challenging (and you have control over whether or not to avoid certain ones), and the modular customisation and upgrades are perfect for a survival game. There are all kinds of things to discover from unsettling anomalies, anomalous storm to "enemies" with unique mechanics its an absolute gem. If you can afford it and like driving/survival games this is a must buy. Even if you are only really a big fan of one of those its still probably worth the full price.

First time buying the ultimate battle pass. Haven't gotten anything yet. Last time I buy it :|

From the bit I was able to play it seems like a fun sequel. The problem is that ea put out a patch that completely breaks big picture mode to the point it won't display the game. Until they fix it I can't recommend.

Looking into it more this seems to still be a pattern with EA especially for pc ports. Here are some more details on my experience. The game had issues with big picture mode (I could hear the audio for the overlay but it wouldn't show and the controller lighting kept changing to the default every few minutes unless I hit the button for the overlay) the first time I launched but it did work eventually. After that however I can hear the game but not see it. On top of that the performance is pathetic even on reduced settings. To top it all off despite me buying the game ON STEAM they forced me to install their garbage platform for a SINGLE PLAYER only game.

Update for September 2024:
Denuvo is gone and performance seems to be much better. HOWEVER, they did not fix any of the major problems that have been happening basically since launch. Steam overlay does not work. Controllers are janky af despite being the best way to play and show keyboard buttons. Not to mention all the other issues people are mentioning that actually make into the game. This is ridiculous that even after more than a year they refuse to fix the most basic features for the game and just tried to make up for it by removing their denuvo turd from inside the game that they put there intentionally. Every time I come back to try again I am reminded yet again why I have EA as a blocked publisher on steam. DO NOT BUY unless you preffer to play with mouse and keyboard for some reason.

Come on EA this game could have made you a fortune if it just worked. The previous game was a smash hit and this could have been too if you just put a little more care into making a quality product. Its been around a year since release and its still unplayable for a lot of people. Get your garbage out of a single player game that has no use for it and make a decent product. Thats all you had to do and I would have bought this on day one at full price happily (I had even booked vacation time to play that I cancelled when I saw the state of it). Now here I am absolutely loving the previous game (I bought it in ps4 and pc and played it multiple times on both) reluctantly returning the game because its just not where it should be. The day you get your act together I will happily buy this, but unfortunately you seem to get a kick out of trashing your best products.

I have to admit, I was a bit concerned about the games quality going into it. The past games from these devs have been, underwhelming. After playing for a few hours though I'm glad I bought it. Yes it takes some heavy inspiration from a few games like ark, pokemon and BOTW, but honestly, it feels like they picked out some of the best parts of each and made something better. Criticise them all you want but I hope this goes to show that people just want good games. If you like survival games like ark then I heavily recommend giving it a try.

I get it you want more control over the game to make cheaters easier to deal with. But come on, the game is completely unplayable with the servers not working. Here are a few things payday 2 did that would have seriously helped the server problems
1. Peer 2 peer games (only need authentication servers)
2. Direct match selection (join a lobby currently waiting to start)
3. Offline single player
Another thing they could have done would be to use cloud servers to handle the load like so many companies do now. All they would need to do is load the software into more servers and easy fix in a few hours tops. It is getting close to 2 days since the games release and there have been so many we fixed it, no never mind that its making me wonder if they even know what they are doing. Did they seriously expect with how popular payday two was especially early on that there wouldn't be another surge of people hoping this would be better?

The game is fun but they took away almost all of the sense of reward you get from playing the game. With the way it used to be you would get a pretty constant feed of mostly garbage but it still felt like something. Now you don't really earn rewards anymore unless you buy the battle pass and even then you only get a pittance of stuff. On top of that they are pushing some pretty disgusting monetisation practices ON TOP of the the battle pass. The prices are also outrageous. Until Actiblizz gets their heads out of their A** I can't properly recommend this game to most people.

I won't lie but this game has a lot of serious issues making late game play feel arduous. At the same time this is one of the few MMOs I have played that I genuinely enjoy and am willing to put a lot of time into. The dev team does seem to be a bit unsure when it comes to decisions and this has caused some serious problems in places where they haven't listened to feedback. Despite the issues however there have been a lot of very frequent patches and improvements made towards bettering the game overall and on top of that amazon has taken very serious measures to protect the economy. The measures to protect the economy have been annoying when the whole economy gets shut down however it has meant that things are fairly stable and bugs that could cause serious problems don't get a chance to do lasting damage.

TLDR: The game is fun with issues that the dev team is consistently improving and fixing. If you enjoy grinding, crafting and messing around with friends(you will find some in game if you don't go in with some) its a good buy.

While the story and gameplay was good while I could play it the game does not function well on modern hardware. Not only does the game crash but it will sometimes corrupt the data of the saves and game. I've had to reinstall it 3 times now and have tried many different methods to get it to work with no success. I would love to recommend and play this game but in its current state it's hard to justify.
