Funny timing, I just read your recommendation for the original XCOM. I really like the new one but not without my quibbles. The good: streamlined gameplay that eliminates the tedium of the original game; the pacing and tension on the battlefield are excellent, a lot of fun/memorable moments. The bad: The game still has some unfixed bugs that are maddening; tactical maps feel much too small at times, particularly during terror missions; the RNG feels like it favors the AI moreso than it does the player; campaign feels short even at 40 hrs.
