Great!
What you have done is giving VS the prerequisites for writing code targeted at .NET 4.6.1, independent of your system's .NET version, so you still have the same version installed and updating your .NET version down the line should not affect your ability to write scripts :)
I am glad that it makes sense! My content is definitely not a master class in SE and C#, but hopefully serves as a good starting point :)
Have fun engineering!
That actually worked... !!!
Last time I tried this I got the message that it was not possible to reset this installation to a previous version...
Thx.
Will let you know how I fare further down the line.
Your contributions on scripting are actually very insightfull and logically built up (well in accordance to my logic I guess... ;-)
Much appreciated, thank you :)
Going to make a few assumptions here:
You are using Visual Studio to write a script.
You have MDK installed in visual studio
You are *not* able to make a project for ingame script due to missing .NET 4.6.1
What you are going to want to do, is open the visual studio installer and click "modify" on your existing installation, then go to the "individual components" tab and find ".NET Framework 4.6.1 targeting pack" and tick the box, finally clicking "Modify" in the lower right corner.
You should be able to start an Ingame Script project now.
If my assumptions are wrong, do tell and we'll figure it out :)
I have been most frustrated though by the fact that ingame programming requires .net framework 4.6.1 to work, and my PC had a later version installed. This cannot be rolled back and so even after several hours of trying, there is no way I get this to work. Do you have any sollutions or know of any?
It will copy everything (plus you have nothing to loose by making a copy! )
