Very atmospheric game that rewards exploration and doesn't demand too much of your time. It gives you a great experience and lets you bask in its world then lets you go

Well, the game was good enough to get me to 100% it.

I played this off of the recommendation of The Besties, and while it was reasonably enjoyable, cute, and well constructed, I can't say I was ever very gripped by the game. I considered stopping after a couple hours, but then I noticed I was already 20% done, so I figured it wouldn't be too much investment to see how much else the game had to offer.

I would recommend this to people who really love zelda-style adventure games, and who can appreciate the tight scope that this one has. Aside from that, you can honestly probably give it a miss.

Some people are complaining that you only get four levels in this game, but that's not a problem when there's so much to explore and discover in them. I feel like some of these people are just used to running through levels without looking around...

This game is simply one of the best experiences I've had in video games. It drops you into a world that has so much in it, but you need to find it yourself - and unlike other games that do that to you, this one never feels unfair. Each discovery is a joy and feels earned.

Fun metroidvania style game. The puzzles aren't ever too difficult, but not so easy that you're playing the game without thinking. The game was pretty short (was able to finish everything in 4.5 hours, and I think I went pretty slow), but that's somewhat refreshing in a world full of open world games that just want to take all of your time.

The main appeal of the game is the theme, so if this seems like your thing, it probably is.

The Binding of Isaac can be played over and over again without stop. Each playthrough encourages a different style of play depending on the items acquired and character chosen. There is no long-term commitment, as each playthrough takes less than an hour (even less when you're stomped into the ground). This game is not just challenging, it is also grossly funny. What makes the game most compelling is that style of disturbing and cartoony content that makes every player comeback wondering just what else the game is going to through at them. For just five dollars, the game is one of Steam's most worthwhile games.

Pros:
Incredibly fun
Neverending replayability
Challenging
Great humor and style

Cons:
That I struggle to come up with cons

Dust: An Elysian Tail is very fluid, and the gameplay is interesting, but the story is not meant for adults. The platforming is fun, and the fights are engaging. There are a good amount of challenge areas to test your skills and plenty of secrets to find. I did end up kicking myself for choosing a normal difficulty, as I blazed through most of the game without a struggle. Unfortunately, playing through the game, I would often find myself rolling my eyes at some of the dialogue and plot points, and these are pivotal parts of an RPG. I could easily see this game being very captivating for a child or a young teenager, but at that point it seems like buying this game on XBox live is a much better investment.

Pros:
Good gameplay
Lots of secrets

Cons:
Childish story
Not too challenging

I don't know how I got up to 44 hours checked in on this game while only pursuing one goal. I would probably blame it on this Crusader Kings II's incredibly steep learning curve. This game is perfect for any history buff who specifically loves medieval history, or for anyone looking to get incredibly mad at a game that you just don't quite understand yet. Don't get me wrong though, I don't mean that as a negative. The complexity that Paradox set up in Crusader Kings II is jaw-dropping, and I could spend an hour clicking through any given day in my character's reign, trying to plan exactly my next step.

Pros
Rich historic simulator, no other game comes close
Lots of freedom to do what you want

Neutral:
The game is self-directed, as their is no explicit goal. Depending on who you are, this is either an incredibly good, or an incredibly bad thing.

Cons:
Incredibly steep learning curve
Too much DLC to know what to do with

Civilization V almost doesn't need a review. I could start off right now telling you to buy it, and I will. Buy it.

Civilization V is intensely complicated without ever feeling unfair, and it has a very manageable learning curve. It can be incredibly fun to play alone as one of the Iroquois on an Earth map and destroy Elizabeth I before she ever gets to you. It's just as fun to play with your friends through a virtual board game that dwarfs any other I've seen. But be warned, if you think monopoly was a long game, you've seen nothing yet. In the time it takes to set up, play, swear at your friends, throw the board, and eventually clean up the carnage of a monopoly game, you will only just have finished the Classical era (about a fourth of the way through on play-through). Despite this, Civilization always has me coming back for more, even if half the time it only leads to me rage quitting against the PC.

WARNING: Do NOT buy the game if you are not also getting the expansions. Gods and Kings and Brave New World vastly improved on what was originally a sub-par installment in the series. Don't even try to buy them later, because you might just be too disappointed with the vanilla version to follow through.

Pros:
Unparalleled replayability
Incredibly complex, yet accessable

Cons:
Before you know it, you will have sunk your traditional 100 hours into the game
Not worth the investment if you're not looking for something complex
