This game has amazing gameplay, superb looking armor, lots of grinding and most importantly a bunch of challenging monsters to dominate.

In the begining there is alot of new information to take in and new mechainics to learn since the game is originaly a Japanese IP. But that's not a negative, no indeed it is one of the strongest features of this game, the part where you have to think and craft your own path to being a badass hunter.

There are so many armor sets and consumables to collect and learn to use effectively that after the first 100 hours you realise something gamebreaking, like for example: what the "Max Potions" do in the game. (they max your hp out at the 150 mark.)
And talking about items to learn about, you also have to keep track of what the 30 other consumables do and when to use them. And yet there's more to learn about.

Moving on to the armor system where you have to manage skills that comes along with said armor and puting together a nice build for yourself with different skills, defense and attack for the respective monster and element. Also you will have to either look stylish and feel fabolous or look like absolute garbage but kick ass (until you unlock the transmog system that is.)

Now you have crafted some nice looking armor with some good skills and a weapon with the appropriate element for whatever elegant beast you aim for, now comes the combat system.

The combat system feels fluent and rewarding once you have learned how the animations (they feel like they take hours when just starting a new weapon) and monsters attack patterns work. Most weapons are balanced so whatever weapon you choose is viable and really fun to use. It all depens on what your playstyle is and some skills ofcourse.
Some weapons have a higher skill-ceiling making them extremely rewarding to master. But most of the weapons are easy to learn and hard to master.

The monsters not only look nice but feels nice to fight against. And their attacks and enviroment makes sense, so you feel like you can apply logic to most hunts which makes learning about a monster and following it studing its habits a real thing which not only makes sense but gives the exact feeling of being a hunter.
However there's no need to go that far if you just want to get a nice impresive low kill time. The scoutflies automaticly gives out the monsters position (if you have researched the monster before.)

As is already stated applying the correct elemental damage and defense is critical for a successful hunt or capture, but learning the monsters weak points and what limbs are severable (There's no blood) is also very important.

The other thing to know about combat is that 97% of the monsters you will face are very soloable (Thank God) that means: no friends required, you don't even need to interact with other players if that's your playstyle. I myself enjoyed the full game completely solo. Atleast until the endgame content where it just got more effective to have a group of skilled players.
But don't worry, you are not alone in fighting the monsters. You always have your Palico (Pet Cat) at your side, and you can give him some cool weapons that benefit you or just build him into a devestation agent and make yourself your sidekicks sidekick.
Normaly your felyne friend brings you health in form of vigorwasp spray and stations but he/she can be customised with different gadets depending on your needs and playstyle.
Ofcourse the multiplayer is always avalibe. But I recommend trying some monsters solo, It's a completely different game solo.

This game offers a fun story and stays fun (But kinda grindy endgame.) I have yet to tire of anything in the game with a current 200 hours on record. I'm positive I can devote another 100-150 hours and still have fun.

9.6/ 10 Game. Recommended to play if you like epic fights.
