Exploration was amazing, so much content (maybe too much, over half the weapons felt kinda useless, same with most armors but I appreciate the amount of effort that must have went into it all), and although I found the controls to be a bit clunky they were at very least responsive (although dunno why the run button is also the roll button and jump button, kinda a bad idea). Kinda a personal preference but I really don't enjoy the multiplayer elements of these games much, which luckily this game had an option to go offline, or just stay hollow if you don't wanna be invaded or arse with any other players for that matter. Any time I was stuck or frustrated I wanted to push through to see what was next, and will quite likely do some successive playthroughs in the future. Great atmosphere, great music, great enemy designs, and overall just a pretty great game.

After beating Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, I thought about skipping this one cuz I heard a lot of bad things such as terrible hit boxes, despawning enemies, tons of scripted ganks, clunkier controls, terrible online balance, and worse atmosphere... I don't know if I'll find out if all of it's true but already most of it is, and because the stuff that is true made it not very fun I have lost interest. The game feels odd and I just want to move on to Bloodborne, DS3, Lies of P, Elden Ring... hell Code Vein feels more responsive. Dark Souls had stuff that frustrated me here and there and so did Demon's Souls, but I loathe the feel of this game compared to both. Always felt the controls in the souls games were clunky but not unresponsive at the very least, which unfortunately this game is both.

EDIT: Played quite a few more hours, I really don't feel any different, areas are far more bland, scripted ganks got worse if anything, and I just don't find it all too enjoyable. Increasing adaptability quite a bit fixes some of the awful roll mechanic, but the hitboxes themselves feel off. It's also odd how many times I've done backstabs that had my character doing the animation but the enemy doesn't react properly and just hits you through it. Lots of bosses feel recycled, and after fighting the pursuer like 5 different times, I'm pretty tired of trying to find any sort of enjoyment in it. I'm bored of it. He's sort of like a bargain bin version of the Nemesis from RE3, but this time he could just spawn from the ground and has a terrible AI, and only does the same 3 attacks over and over again... I like how Dark Souls and Demon's Souls areas always felt varied, and enemies often felt fresh between areas, and although clunky the mechanics just seemed to actually work properly. Your combos rarely hit enemies out of your combos in the others. Lock on was always somewhat wonky in these games, but this one you gotta have the right weapon to even swing at anything that's on the ground otherwise you just hit over it...

I could go on and on, but instead I'd rather just say, maybe I'll come back to this one day, but I just wanna play a better souls game, preferably one that drags a whole lot less, before I burn myself out playing the worst one.

Early Access Review
Real fun game, appropriately price, with a cool OST that you can change on the fly, loads of guns, and a fun main character with many awesome (and some really silly) one liners. Rule No. 1 is still in Early Access but haven't really run into any bugs myself. The pixel art is a nice throwback to classical games, with many nods to games like Blood and Shadow Warrior in the one liners, and many movie quips. The first game mode is wave based, and you begin fighting explodey shapes that get progressively harder, and more enemy variants appear the further you get, until it turns into an absolute cluster of stuff flying all over the place. The devs are also great, as they seem to keep working hard on it, and are very responsive to the communities feedback to make the best possible game out of their concept. They recently added another game-mode for shooting some hoops xD, which I didn't expect but it works really well, and is a quick way to grind some exp. I can't wait to see what other game modes they'll be adding to this, and hope to see some kind of campaign someday even if it's in a different game altogether hint hint. The character is fun enough that I'd like to see her in some kind of campaign of sorts in a similar vein to some of the games she gives nods to. I'm really glad I bought Rule No. 1 on a whim because it's definitely been worth a shot, and it's only going to get better!

Thanks for reading!

Early Access Review
Recieved product free, but loved some of the champions designs and wanted to give them all a shot, so I purchased the Champions Pack. Had a great time for a couple weeks but game has become a grind, and I only find myself hopping on to collect dailies. The net code could be a lot better, or at least more consistent. I've had matches where the tri-shot blows up within a second and other where I wait over a second for it to even explode, and have had issues where a rocket nails somebody and it outright doesn't calculate (there are videos of people having the same problem). I've had rubber-banding issues at 30ping. One of the most annoying issues I've been having is chests that I win in matches and a couple from runes have outright just disappeared too right after it says I earned them, making even the grind seem absolutely pointless (dunno if it's just me, couldn't find anything on this issue unfortunately, otherwise I might have been able to fix it). Because of these issues I really can't recommend Quake Champions and have slowly been losing interest in it. I've had many more issues albeit less frequently. A big update apparently happened today, but I can't say the game really feels any different. Same hero shooter in an arena setting with a bad and inconsistent net code. I can't really recommend it. May give this update a little more time, but after a week I assume it'll be same ♥♥♥♥, and I'll move on to much better games. But it's a shame given I believe this game has loads of potential.

I also do wish the hero shooter concept the game was based around was optional, like maybe a matchmaking mode without abilities, same hit box size, health, armor, and running speeds just as a nod to the classic quake games, and as a more balanced option for gameplay as a whole.

Edit: I also noticed even the leaderboard is messed up, it shows I have 0 wins in deathmatch which is also proven to be untrue as I took a screenshot of my victory even since it was one of my best matches at the time, and my first victory in deathmatch. The game is a real piece of work. Another friend of mine claims it shows Ranger is his most played hero when he has always only played Nyx. Dunno how all these issues are a problem, and why so many people have different issues.

Match lobby had an annoying child screaming into the mic and singled out myself to announce I was indeed a ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I said into the mic, I hope I get to play as jason, and guess what I did get to play as jason... After killing everybody else, the kid was the last one left. It was an exhillerating chase that ended when I got the pleasure of holding him against a tree and crushing his neck... he again declared me a ****** ♥♥♥♥♥♥, fair enough! 10/10 would crush a prebubescent kids neck again.

I'd like to start by saying that this is an amazing game and by far my favorite game to have come out so far this year. However the PC port appears to have some problems which prevent me from enjoying this game. Specifically the crashing during the 30+ minute intro which prevents me from making any progress.

I'm sad to say I've wasted 3 hours on the intro because it keeps locking up and crashing, and there is no save points for the first 30-40 mins of the game. So having to redo this intro about 7 times because of crashes when my pc exceeds the minimum requirements is a tad unacceptable. I really want to retract this review as soon as possible as that will mean they have fixed and optimized the game, but until then I can't recommend a game that will crash before it even allows you to make progress. I bought this on pc because after beating the ps4 version a couple times I was aching to play this on pc with less framerate issues and better performance (although there were few to begin with), unfortunately what I've got is a game that is currently not playable for me... Which is a shame because this is definately my favorite game so far to have come out this year...

I went into this purchase thinking, "sweet, another indie survival horror game". I'm now wondering if this may be the first 2 dollars I regret spending (and I've spent money on some pretty pitiful stuff! Think Shaq-fu... classic). The game is very broken. Not like just difficulty either.

-Hit detection is god awful
-Counter system is useless and usually leaves you taking a hit right afterward
-When enemy decides to spam teleport just put controller down and enjoy the death scene
-No ability to skip death scenes (which is what half your play time will be composed of anyway on any difficulties past easy, believe me I know)
-Terrible navigation, I've actually managed to teleport back to rooms I had just been in while moving in the opposite direction of the room.
-Glitchy checkpoints, my checkpoint on the first enemy had me stuck getting hit and taking damage before the game actually loaded.

I'm hoping I'll have a reason to remove this review or correct it in the future, but as it is, I'd say it's about as fun as trying to beat ninja gaiden 1-3 with your feet, blindfolded, and all while having yourself castrated with a cheese-grater. The combat is even more awkward than trying to drink spaghetti out of a bendy-straw. Having Diahreea leak out of your eye sockets is less painful than having to play this game. Congress is contemplating an end to waterboarding criminals as a torture technique and instead implementing hours of "Grave Prosperity", so long as it remains unfixed and unpatched.

I recommend this game to
-those who are insanely masochistic,
-your worst enemy
-those who acquire stiffies from death scenes in vidja games.
-those contemplating suicide but feel there may still be beauty in this world worth living for

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to play some more since I'm a complete and utter masochist. Let the vicious cycle of misery and woe complimented by self-hatred commence! Whoooohooooooo!

Great game especially for fans of the original. The game isn't perfect but it's a highly refreshing getaway from most cover-based modern shooters. Their are some glitches here and there, but I haven't been finding too many since I started playing (no gamebreakers or anything that I'm aware of). The boss battles are very fun and inventive and the gameplay is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane (fighting a crippled nerdy nazis with a baseball bat kind of insane thing). The enemies are pretty interesting as some will attempt steal your gun and try to kill you with it, one throws grenades, one does a barrel roll, and one taunts you in hilariously executed Arnold Schwarzenegger puns. There are also loads of secrets and puns (My favorite being dedicated to Full Life Consequences Freedman). The game is easily at least a 7.5 experience... to me almost a 9! :D

Also if your going to let reviews impact your decision at least ignore IGN. They didn't mention boss battles which occur at the end of every single chapter (making me wonder if they even got to one considering in their gameplay video they didn't beat the 1st mission.) They said the enemies don't attempt to dodge your gunshots and that they don't throw grenades which both are proven false within the 1st level as Heavy's will throw grenades and officers do dodge your bullets and rockets (makes you wonder if they even beat the 1st level which is about 5-10 minutes long). They trashed this game for glitches and gave it 4.3 saying illogical stuff like "The mechanics are dated (without really explaining how so) and thrashing it for glitches, while giving Skyrim a 9.5 and writing off all of it's glitches with "Oh yeah theirs some crashes, some things that make it incompleteable but the game is real epic so 9.5!" Please only pay attention to non Biased reviews and ignore trash reviews like IGN.

Thanks for reading!
