Saturday, 9/7/2019 around 10pm, my best friend suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away. I was with him trying to comfort him and reassure him that EMS was on it's way and he would be fine.

Lance Stuart was my best friend. He was more than my gaming buddy, he was my trouble finding pal. We met playing World of Warcraft in 2006 or 2007 and were friends instantly. The things we did became legend, and we only wanted to have fun.

We played a lot of games on Steam, like Division, Wildlands. We got Division 2 and Farcry New Dawn. We played Star Trek Online when it was tough being a Klingon and reveled in it. We played Star Wars The Old Republic and enjoyed the Dark side too much.

We watched Rick and Morty, various movies, TV shows, and would sit and chat about things for hours a day.

The last movie we saw was It Chapter 2, Friday afternoon. Lance loved it.

Lance moved down here to Houston to take a job driving a truck. Every payday he would say "Just leave me enough money for fuel , food, and fun and we're good." I hated using his money for the household, but he regularly said that all our money was going to support our family, and that was important.

That was who he was. He helped others. He would forego lunch so he could save $5 towards someone else's needs. He would endure bad shoes so that no money was spent on costly new ones. I had to convince him to buy clothing for himself and usually I was buying shirts or stuff for him because he just wouldn't do it. He sacrificed for his friends.

Saturday night he was taken from us.

In these 24 hours since, I have thought about who I am and who I want to be. I don't know what will happen to us, my wife and I, now, but I do know that we're forever changed by this. By him.

I am deeply sorry to anyone that I treated poorly.

We all should be kinder to strangers. In the spirit of Lance's kindness to all, I'm going to try to be more like him.

God bless you all and may you have love and peace.
