Most of the complaints I've seen for T:ToN seem to be the very drawing features of the game. It is wordy. It is heavily reliant on narrative/text to push the story forward and world build. Some of the text has been called "pointless" because it merely describes unnecessary things, but it succeeds in creating a sense of immersion.

The combat isn't the best, but it's nowhere near the worst either. You can spend almost the entire game without dealing with combat if you choose, but, even when you do get into combat, once you get the hang of it, it flows pretty smoothly. It's definitely a step up from Planescape, which had some of the worst combat in isometric rpg history.

I definitely enjoyed this game. My favorite game is most likely Planescape: Torment, and this, while being refreshingly different in some ways, is a worthy spiritual successor. Could it have been better? Of course! Having expectations of it being as intricate, deep, or having the same level of engagement as the former will hinder your enjoyment because the former was a masterpiece. This game however definitely holds its own with the best of the isometric narrative rpgs of old.
