THE GOOD:
-This game was bad on release, I recently have spent over 10 hours getting back into it to play with a friend, and I've got to say I'm impressed with the changes they've made. For a game that had a poor launch it's nice to see that the game had work done to make it more playable.
-The world looks good, it's very visually appealing,
-Gathering feels like GREAT! It's a really fun and easy to get lost in gathering system,

THE BAD:
-Crafting is meaningless at low levels, and leaves me feeling like I'm wasting time crafting items that no one wants to buy.
-The player base is dying.
-You have to PAY for mounts. (Which is the scuzziest thing)
-The player numbers are dwindling,
-There's not a lot of options for things to do in game with friends.
-The game is not new player friendly.

FINAL VERDICT:
It's a game that got a much needed series of updates somewhere between launch and the time of this review. I think the game is finally in a playable state and feels fine enouch, but heavily misses the MMORPG mark. It feels like it wanted to heavily focus on pvp, while having no players and pvp that isn't new player friendly. It feels like they wanted the economy to be built up by the crafting system but the crafting system doesn't encourage you to craft anything worth selling at low levels, resulting in low level crafters feeling unrewarded for their effort and dwindling out before they ever hit max crafting levels.

This game has a lot of potential. It's a shame ALL OF THE CHARACTERS are locked behind a pay wall.

I don't know what I should have expected but their monetization strategy is a big turn off. I'd love to be able to play this locally with friends, but I can't because the only characters I have available are the 3 free ones and Shaggy. It's like they saw how good Smash Bros was, made a better online game, and then completely missed the fun of being able to hop in pick any character you wanted and play them.

Keep the skins, but make the characters free to play, and this game would be worth playing.

Early Access Review
My Username is ThePokemon. (That should give me some credence)

I bought this thinking this game would be trash. I could not have been more wrong.

Palworld takes the very best of games like "Pokemon Legends Arceus" "Ark Survival Evolved" and "Legend of Zelda Breath Of The Wild" to create a monster collecting, breeding, raising, slaving, game that goes above and beyond expectations.

I've spent 11.5 hours to date playing this game with my wife and a buddy of mine. My wife loves the cute mons and the cottage core life we can roleplay living. My buddy loves the dungeons, and boss fights, striving for more and more power. Truly this game has something for everyone.

Played this game during the free weekend:

I spent about an afternoon with some friends playing this game, the game feels like a Fallout game devoid of any life. You can explore the world in a few hours. The gameplay isn't anything special and honestly if you're looking for a good game similar to this I'd just recommend Rust.

Let's get the obvious out of the way first:

It's not Fortnite, and it's not PUBG, or any other battle royale. It is A battle royale, but it doesn't play like others you've played. You'll pick from a small list of characters at the start I believe 4 or 6 characters, certain characters have more health, others do more damage, some have good cc, some have solid revive abilities. Each character plays differently. You'll hop in a lobby with 2 other players, run around a beautiful recreation of a map from My Hero Academia, and watch as your favorite characters from the anime fight to see which group will come out on top.

Review:
The game is fun. First and foremost this is a game that was designed to be fun. It's also providing something new to an aging genre, going into the game with Shigarakis powers, or All Might's abilities and fighting it out with other players feels really cool.

Matches are fairly quick, so I don't have to worry about spending 15-30 minutes in a game.

The skins are mostly meh, with some good ones for the main characters.

Honestly for me the highlight is the mal itself, being able to explore the training grounds, and see locations I recognize from the show and manga makes the game so much more fun.

The game is designed to be played with people, to that end I believe this game is best when played with friends. Take an afternoon or an evening and relax with the boys playing this.

Is it balanced? ... Well, is any game truly balanced anymore? There's elements to this game that seems a little broken to me, but nothing game breaking, the game is straight forward, you group up you win, split up you'll probably lose.

As for the claims that the game puts characters behind a paywall, that's not true. The game has a battle pass of sorts, but there's not characters locked behind it only skins.

The Japanese love their gacha games, and this is no exception, it reminds me of overwatch, you'll unlock skins and emotes and voice lines when you open their 'not loot boxes' in 40 boxes opened (within an hour of playing the game) Ive gotten 4 of their ultra rare items, 2 cosmetics and 2 characters. And a smattering of other cosmetics. Characters seem to only be listed under ultra rare, but the more you roll the more of a special currency you'll get that will allow you to unlock characters.

So idk, it doesn't feel all that bad. As a fun free to play game that I havent put any money into it's a great game. And I'd love to see it do well, add characters, skins, and new maps for us to enjoy, it'd be great to fight in Tokyo, or in any number of other great locations from the anime!

BENEFITS:
* Great Story
* Incredible character design
* Easy to learn hard to master combat system
* Scaling difficulty, (Which I find enjoyable, I found myself being forced to actually use potions several times after the first 2 hours)
* Beautiful pixel art animations and art design.
* Music and audio directions are fantastic they do a wonderful job of keeping you immersed.

FLAWS:
* The combat doesn't always feel great. (at least not for me, it's easy to mix up some of the button combinations when using a controller)
* Sometimes it's a tad repetitive. (The story is fantastic and has me wanting to keep going to see it through, but the combat feels a bit repetitive at times.)

Summary:
If you are looking for:
A story driven, action fantasy game set in a world that feels as though it's bustling with life, history, and lore, you've come to the right game. This is definitely worth a play, though if you aren't a fan of League of Legends or Arcane, this might be a purchase you make after it's gone on sale.

FINAL VERDICT:
Buy this game if you are into league, buy it if you are into good stories and wonderful music and worlds/

This game is hard, it's unforgiving, and it hates YOU. yes, you. The person reading this. This game HATES YOU, for no reason, you've literally never met this game. But it hates you. It wants you to die. But you, you're the worst, you don't care what this game wants, you want to live. You want to do everything in your power to live, so you pop in to the game and grab a rock and start hitting stuff. And then you die. And you die. and you die. But you've already bitten the apple, you want to eat the whole thing, even the core. So you keep coming back picking up your rock and hitting trees, goblins, lizards, rockmen, the villagers! Oh shoot don't hit them, darn you died again. Ok well, this time we know better. ....hopefully.

This game is an exceptional display of the potential for Virtual Reality Gaming, I look forward to what will come about thanks to the HL:A workshop tools that have now come out.

Hands down one of the most emotionally intensive games i have ever played. The experience, and believe me, it was an experience, left me breathless at the end. The first time that this game made tears come to my eyes, I knew that this was going to be one of my life long favorites.
