Truly the peak of Battlefield. The atmosphere and immersion alone will keep you coming back.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a influx of cheaters. It was getting pretty bad just before they implemented their in house anti cheat, but once implemented, it was great....for a few weeks until cheat makers updated their cheats.

Now you can no longer do the following
- Play the game on Linux devices (such as Steam Deck)
- No longer install mods (most were cosmetic but some could have been considered as cheating such as "clearer iron sights")

Unless they continuously update their anti-cheat on these older games to keep up with newer cheats, this was pointless and a regression of the game in terms of preservation.

FORTUNATELY there is now custom hosted servers for the game! Search Google for "MARNE BF1"

Ultimately, this game is awesome and I don't think we are going to see a Battlefield as polished as this every again. Apparently around 75% of the OG DICE devs left by BFV. Majority of the devs that worked on BF2042 are people who have never made a BF game before.

It's sad to see, but i'm glad I was able to experience this game. Hopefully custom servers will evolve to new content and crazy possibilities alongside keeping the game alive.

FINAL UPDATE:
- Feels like there is a Hidden SBMM
- Cheaters seem to be a big problem with this game. Can be remedied with custom servers with admins
- Map flow is ridiculous. Constantly having both teams filtered through 1 flag in King of the Hill (Conquest) mode

------------------------------
Game has good bones. It gets the fundamental gameplay loop right with its punchy satisfying gunplay. I would much rather play this game over BFV or BF2042. Although there are some things that definitely need to be changed:

- remove animations when entering/exiting attachment selection in menus
- allow to instantly skip through after match reports and view later
- allow us to see deaths DURING the game
- allow ALL chat in game
- add server browser, custom hosted servers (paid is fine), and hardcore
- allow FPS counter to show in menus
- allow the back button on a mouse to function in menus
- allow option to pull squad with you when leaving a game
- in the loadouts tab, allow us to modify the weapon by clicking "F Modify" prompt that shows up instead of only allowing a keyboard input.
- real factions, no operators (one can dream)
- BETTER MAPS. Majority of the maps end up having both teams fighting for a single point without much room for flanking to take different flags. It happens soo often it ruins the experience.
- Matchmaking seems to have a decently strong SBMM (or similar) system. I typically have experiences where I do very well one game (almost like I am playing bots, do they secretly still have bots in the game?), then the next 5 games I barley get a .7 K/D. It feels strange.

UPDATE: Looks like others are also reporting SBMM and I am feeling it more than ever. Exactly the same crap that makes me despise CoD. Wait a terrible decision. There is nothing enjoyable about being optimized into 0.7-1.2K/D

UPDATE 2: There seems to still be bots in the Warfare despite the company promising no more AI in that mode. It also feels like Team Jade is constantly changing how the matchmaking system works because every week my experience is different. Something is very fishy about these guys...

my second time getting shadow banned from multiplayer on MW2. I was first shadow banned Nov 18th till the 23rd (seemly got unbanned after purchasing a bundle as instructed by some youtube videos. only Activision would). I've been playing since and am now shadow banned again. This is ridiculous

EDIT: Ok so this limited match making stuff has been happening to me till this day. Usually a clean install of Windows + making sure virtualization (SVM on AMD mobos) is OFF resolves it. I have been "shadowbanned" 15+ times now, with no ban. There is clearly some "account trust level" at play here that doesn't automatically limit your matchmaking, but in combination of player reports, it can. Here is a experience I had:

"my second shadow ban was lifted December 4th. I have been playing since with no issues.

On Jan 20th, i updated my BIOS and reenabled SVM (virtualization on AMD platforms). On Jan 25th, I purchased NordVPN and began using on my PC.

I didn't think it'd be an issue with CoD, but after stomping some ppl in FFA and getting reported, on Jan 25th, I was finally shadow banned again.

On the same day, I was playing a game on my alt Steam account which was perma banned on MW2019. When I was done playing, I tried switching over to CoD but forgot to switch my Steam account.

My conclusion based on what happened is this. I believe that Ricochet works on a "trust-level" system. If your account/computer meets certain criteria, you will get a lower "trust-level".

So for me, I launched MW2/3 from a previously banned account while connected to NordVPN (closest/fastest server that was to me. I wasn't trying to change countries) which then probably logged my HWID on their servers somewhere. This likely lowered my "trust-level"

I then closed the game and logged into my main account instead. I was able to play a good amount of games (10-15 maybe?) before being reported and kicked right as i was doing an execution for the final kill.

Now I believe my accounts "trust-level" was low because the previous day, I was playing for several hours and was literally stomping every game. I was able to finish my session without getting any sort of shadowban.

The next day when I log into my banned steam account + start using NordVPN, I was banned after a few games/reports."

I understand the need to hide how these mechanisms work to prevent cheaters from circumventing them, but the moment it starts affecting innocent paying customers is when its gone too far.

After playing Mafia 1: Remake and Mafia 2, I decided to give this game another chance. I got through the story halfway (with a trainer to help me get through the boring repetitive gameplay), but I just could not do it. I had to watch the remaining story on YouTube. Gameplay sucks. Stay away.

Everyone here has posted a bunch of positive reviews already saying pretty much the same things which I mostly agree with. So I will only be listing CONS about the game. Will keep updating as i progress through the story.

- You get bounties during main missions then must pay a crazy high fee to remove the bounty. How to avoid bounties is not properly explained.

- Menus aren't completely optimized for PC. You will be scrolling using the mouse, and when you go to click on what you want, the menu will scroll all the way to the top making you scroll back to what you wanted. Also, lists loop going back to the start making it confusing at first. Poorly done all around.

- NPC characters dialog is cut off by cutscenes when you reach the objective instead of playing out their last sentence like in GTA V. Trying to slow down or stop in attempt to hear all the dialog before reaching the objective results in the speaking NPC to stop what they’re saying and ask you what you're doing and why you're stopping. Annoyingly, you can’t hear entire dialog unless you slowly approach the objective at a constant rate.

- Stealth killing a hideout during free roam (single player) is impossible. Stealth killing couple of people results in the entire gang knowing your exact position. Running away far enough gets them off your track, but when you come back to finish the rest, the people you killed respawn. Its ridiculous and immersion breaking in my opinion.

- Using in-game map to locate animals hardly works. When I go to the marked location, I spend an average of 15-20 real world minutes to find the animal. I am lucky to find ONE most of the time. I nearly always have to resort to an online guide to find the animal I'm looking for.

- Got Panther pelt after running back and forward waiting for stupid animal to spawn. Finally get the pelt. Head to the next animal I need. Die by a random camp shooting at me as my horse runs into a rock and I fall off and die. Lose Panther pelt (because you lose it when you die for some reason???) and have to spend another 30mins trying to get another one to spawn. Great gameplay loop rockstar!!!!

I've put a decent amount of time into this game. I am playing on the hardest difficulty available. There seem to be a lot of people stating they're having issues with their copy but mine seems to be all good. 6700k, Strix 1080, 16GB DDR4. One thing that i dislike about this game is that when there are missions where you need to wipe out the area of enemies, for some reason once you are spotted, the enemies will always know where you are. A lot of the times i found myself getting spotted by an enemy that i cannot even see. It has led to many missions where stealth is just not an option regardless of the game making it feel like it is. The core gameplay is fun though. I did start to get some mild visual artifacts after the recent patch but that seemed to only be in the Manhattan section. Haven't encountered it elsewhere. The story is what really drew me to the game. When i first saw the trailers for this game, I immediately went back and finished the first Wolfenstein. Although the game is fun, there doesn't seem to be much in interesting/useful unlockables (besides the suppressor for your pistol) and my main drive to finish the game is the story. I hope they fix enemies being able to spot you in a split second and the annoying commanders who never lose sight of you. I don’t know if I can recommend this game to others right now, but if you're a fan of the first game you probably will be interested in this one as well. So, for now, thumbs up!

UPDATE: So, I finally came around to finishing the main story. It took me nearly 18 hours to complete on the hardest mode available when you first launch the game. Like many others stated, the ending is an extremely unsatisfying cliffhanger. It makes it seem as if everything you just did had no contribution to the story in anyway. I'm sure this is so people purchase the seasons pass or wait for "Wolfenstein 3". Another thing to mention is towards the end of the game, levels were reused which really had me rolling my eyes and had me reconsider whether the purchase was worth it. I don't think the price tag for this game is justified with what is offered. Should you purchase at full retail price? No. Should you purchase the game at a reasonable sale? Hell yes. Although the game does have a lot of side missions/content to offer (a lot of which I haven't even begun & not sure if I will), I think most people will purchase this game for its story. With all that being said, i do have to commend Machine Games (or rather Bethesda) for not shoving in anti-consumer RNG loot boxes into this game. It's sad that this has to be something that is appreciated nowadays but that just how it is (until people stop supporting these scummy business practices atleast). In conclusion, the game is just currently not worth its price in my opinion. Wait for a sale.
