Fallout 4 is a sequel built on a myriad small tweaks, subtle refinements and quiet additions that all come together to make it one of the most complex, rewarding and addictive open-world games of this console generation.

id Software has successfully reinvented the classic Doom experience for a modern audience without actually having to reinvent anything. It’s not a reboot, it’s a revival. If you’ve ever wondered what Doom might look like in 2016, this is it.

Early Access Review
It took me three days to build a tent and about three seconds for a guy with a flashlight on his head to club me to death next to it.

The Forest gets 5 freshly severed limbs out of 5.

“A child shouldn’t have to go through this.”

Wise words from a teddy bear. They’re also spot-on for the situation Among the Sleep’s two year-old protagonist finds himself in, as he’s forced to endure a number of horrors that are both imagined and very real in one of the most original — and refreshing — horror games I’ve played in some time.

Among the Sleep is a must-play for any fan of the genre, so long as you can overlook its handful of technical annoyances — almost all of which can be easily remedied with a patch — and immerse yourself in this game’s beautifully realized world.

Dead Space 2 is everything I hoped it would be; it’s scarier than its predecessor, has a handful of jaw-dropping set pieces and despite its heavier reliance on action and spectacle, it's still very much a game that’ll have you on the edge of your seat even during your second (third, fourth, fifth) time through. Don't worry, there's plenty of Peng to go around.

FEAR 3 proves there's nothing more beautiful than brotherly love. It's easily the most bombastic experience I've had so far with the FEAR games -- the only drawback is the game has strayed quite a bit from its horror roots. But seriously, if you have a few friends to play the crazy addictive multiplayer with, this is worth checking out.

If revenge is a dish best served cold, I’m eating frozen meals from now on, because Dishonored is delicious. Welcome to steampunk City 17.

Crystal Dynamics has done the impossible. They’ve taken one of gaming’s most iconic franchises — and arguably its most well-known female character — and reinvigorated both with a reboot that is a must-play for all.

I’m a huge fan of this series, but more could have been done with Riptide. It’s a fun game, but where its predecessor built a solid foundation ripe for innovation, this only rests on the success of the original. It’s an incredibly fun co-op game, but you won’t miss out on much if you decide to skip this little vacation.

While not perfect, Metro: Last Light provides a grim journey through a world long bereft of hope. It takes everything its predecessor did well and, like a good sequel, successfully builds on that foundation. The result is an unforgettable action game that doesn’t rely solely on its — admittedly gorgeous — visuals, instead it’s always focused on building and maintaining an atmospheric and engrossing world you won’t ever want to leave.
