The game itself is great. The community needs some work.

Osteoblasts is a story-centric RPG which reminds me of the best of Undertale and Pokemon. It's exposition filled, but only in subtle ways that casually inform the story -- you never quite feel dumped on by exposition. It boasts a satisfying learning curve that always make you feel like you've mastered new tools. For me, JRPGSs, with pixel graphics, are a tough sell. However, Osteoblasts' design is well suited to hooking you into the story without much effort, features brilliantly aesthetic sprites, and is challenging yet centered by a neat progression system so you always feel as if 'its your lucky day.'

Some things need to be polished, though I assume the combat system is fairly intuitive for anyone familiar with the genre (which is not me), I think some of the tutorial levels could be more conducive to graduating into the combat system -- done properly, it would probably help with the overall immersion. A more robust UI and some more sprites for the menu screen would help too, I imagine. Particularly a mini-map or map menu.

Overall, I think Osteoblasts represents a plugged in developer who knows what the audience wants in terms of theme, aesthetic, and some clever in-game designs. Though I must admit I occasionally land on the idea that soon it will be over, and my run will be concluded and that is my biggest con.
