After spending some time dying at the start you might feel inclined to give up, but we all know how it goes: "just one more run"

And each time you get a little farther, with the knowledge from all the previous runs slowly but surely piling up without you even noticing. Enemies that before made you stop and flee now are easy to defeat as the room layout is suddenly mapped by your subconscious and you remember every item that is in your inventory. All without noticing.

You will become aware of how every situation that has caused your death can be overcome for the next time, of how any item can and cannot be used, how every enemy that has killed you can be defeated, and the more you learn, the more words in the walls of the system become visible, along with the beautiful constant harmony of every mechanic polished to perfection working together.

But you will not know of this.

As you advance and the challenges the game throw at you become more complex, there simply isn't enough time to think things over at every new situation because there are simply too many being thrown at you, and so, your subconscious takes over, the decisions that took time and effort suddenly take a split second without you even noticing. Your brain becomes capable of processing so much information so quickly that it almost feels like you're not even playing at some points.

And that is when this game becomes untouchable by its peers.

When you are no longer thinking, everything has been wired into your brain, you know exactly what you have to do in any given situation, and your understanding of this complex system becomes as ingrained as a human instinct.

Suddenly, you control and you dominate, there is nothing in your way, and you know now what Baron Herx felt.

sorry for posting cringe, this game made me remember one of the reasons i love gaming so I had to let out some thoughts.

In my opinion it's a perfect game, every mechanic was developed to be the best version possible of it and it offers a clear, direct and challenging experience to the players.
And I also think it's a great example of how mechanics can be used to tell an emergent narrative based on what happens in each run and how each players chooses to react to the constant dangers that are presented.
Overall 10/10 :)
Just like every other AC, it tries to do too much, being at best average at some points, and absolutely awful at the rest.
This title has absolutely no redeemable qualities, even the free running side of the game (the bread and butter of this stupid franchise) is buggy, unresponsive and seizure inducing.
I could break down each and every aspect of the game and explain how it manages to be so bad in so many different ways, but it's been two weeks since i finished the main story and I can't remember a single thing that happened in those 20 hours, so I think that in keeping with the spirit of this franchise, I might as well not bother.
