The amount of hours I've played Fallout 76 is incorrect here on Steam, I have around or over 3K, because I started playing it in December 2018, on Bethesda's defunct launcher. This shows that overall I enjoy and recommend the game. But!!! More below.

Fallout 76 came a long way since the launch. It had lots of updates and content added, though I personally prefer how the story was told pre-Wastelanders expansion in 2020, through messages left behind by those who died. I'm a minority, but I'm not alone. I knew what to expect from Wastelanders, I took part in the NDA PTS for it.

This year (2024), even though the new content continued to trickle in, the new Seasons format, as opposed to the Scoreboard format, became a mortal plague due to it having been implemented by the new "Monetization Director", yeah, I kid you not, it's his title, and he's a former employee of EA, bringing its shady business tactics to an already complicated history Bethesda has in terms of monetization. I love Bethesda's games, but dealing with them isn't for all.

Back to the Seasons format, it badly punishes the players, especially and sadly ironically those who have the Fallout 1st subscription. It's a mega grind, and it's unbearable. Unfortunately FOMO affects many people, myself included, but unless you have the OP weapons and armor and minmax your character, there's no way to do it via grinding XP and be done with it. I'm a casual player, I take care of a very ill 93-yo father, who is bedridden. Doing the dailies becomes a second job, and ruins the enjoyment of an otherwise decent game. I play videogames to escape RL, not to get a 2nd job that is unpaid and isn't that rewarding.

This season in particular, they gatekept the only 2 rewards I wanted (the pets) after reaching rank 82. It's a sick joke. The only other way of getting them (and their vanilla versions) is by purchasing them in the Atom Shop. Either way you lose, cause either you pay for them, or you must play every day, doing the dailies and grinding XP, which gives you the "free" version. Which isn't free, cause time is money.

Is the game good? Mostly ✅
Do I recommend it? (see above and take it in consideration) ❓
Can you play it on an old PC? ❌
Will you like it ❓
i'm an idiot, I still like it, but the C.A.M.P. building part. 💯🤡

Had I left a review up to 2023, it would be more positive, despite all the bugs that we are taught to pretend are normal. 😂But after the Seasons were introduced, I need to take off the rose-tinted glasses and call it what it is: exploitation of FOMO.

PS: i did NOT receive the game for free, I don't understand why Steam is insisting in saying so, if I didn't click that box that says I received it for free. 🤬
