*Checked the "received for free" box because a friend got this for me as an early birthday present so I could play with him*

I've never used the term "literally unplayable" before unless I was mocking someone, but here we are. If I don't run it in Windows 8 Compatibility mode, it crashes on launch. If I do, it runs, but the terrain flickers constantly and nothing I've done with the games display/graphics settings, or my PCs settings, has been able to make it display correctly. I have almost an hour and a half of play time, and it's been exclusively trying to get the game to work, or waiting for shaders to compile. Under no circumstances would I recommend this game to anyone currently, and I hope the devs do something about this soon because this is massively unacceptable behavior for a game developer to allow a game to launch with this level of day one troubleshooting and graphical glitches in 2025 (even though it happens literally every time a new game comes out so I don't know why it still surprises me.) Will update my review if/when this issue is resolved.

Edit 2/8/25: The latest update makes it considerably better, but as soon as you use a phone to throw a party or visit a community lot, it almost immediately drops to less than 10 fps. A step in the right direction for sure, but still some work to be done.

I've waited years for this to happen, but I can't recommend it currently. The performance suffers on AMD hardware as soon as there's more than two or three sims on a lot/on screen. I'll change my review if/when they fix this, but this appears to be a fairly widespread issue, so if your PC relies on AMD hardware, wait until they get whatever this issue is sorted.

The servers don't work, an entire DLC pack was wasted on some losers from a talk show I've never heard of, and mechanics somehow feel jankier than last years entry. Add in the fact they'll shut down the servers in two to three years like they're doing with 2K23 and this was the final WWE game I'm willing to throw away my money on.

I don't even care about the online matches, but when it takes me twenty minutes to get into community creations to download a belt, then the connection fails mid download, it's over.

It makes me post a review to not recommend this, so I'll put as much effort into my review as I feel went into this game.

At least I can finally apologize to Oblivion for saying it's Horse Armor DLC was the most worthless paid content ever and could never be topped. Sorry Oblivion, hindsight's 20/20 and all that.

This is one of my favorite games from my childhood, and I'm so glad it's on finally available digitally. Only real disappointment is that there isn't any controller support at the moment, but hopefully that will be fixed soon. Otherwise, it's just as great as I remember.

If you like Left 4 Dead and Warhammer, you'll enjoy this. 10/10

If you enjoy colony builders, then this game is a must have for your library, especially considering the massive amount of mod support. I haven't put a thousand hours into this game for nothing.
