Huh. Truly one of the games of all time. Perhaps even one of the fighting games of all time.

Unbelievably good mod. The first game set up some wild expectations and I was still completely blown away. If you like Half Life, it is not a question: You have to play this.

I've played ~3 hours of this as of writing, and I can confidently say that this is the best VR game on the market right now.

The suspense, the environments, the gunplay, and strangely enough the inventory management all combine to create an insanely immersive experience that had my heart pumping and my arms shaking for most of my time in Pechorsk.

An excellent game well worth the price so far. I can't wait to see what I find next and what CM Games adds next.

I've played this game for thirty minutes and already adore it. This is the pinnacle "fast boomer shooter". Just so damn good.

The Opposing Force 2 we never got, and the Opposing Force 2 I could only dream of. Magnificent.
The second one, Entropy: Zero 2 is on the way soon too.

Virtual Reality perfected, and one of the best shooters I've ever played.

I won't touch on the story, you should play it yourself. The story is an easy 10/10 from me. Gourmet ♥♥♥♥ for Half Life fans and new folk alike.

The gameplay is astonishing. The weapons are kickass, the enemies are fun to fight, and there is just enough variety to round out this 10-12 hour experience. Paced perfectly along with puzzles, scavenging, and the best horror segment I've EVER played, the gameplay is sure to impress. Those gravity gloves fill me with endless glee.

The music and sound design are magnificent. I dunno how they pulled off Kelly Bailey so well without Kelly Bailey but hot damn did they. The sound design aside from the music is great as well. Headcrab zombies are just as terrifying as they were in HL2, the Combine soldiers are just as well done too, and the aforementioned horror segment has some of the best sound design I've ever heard in a game.

Regarding headsets, I used a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ old 2013 Oculus Rift with two sensors and it worked flawlessly. I imagine the game is even more of a religious experience with something like the Index or even Vive.

Overall a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ masterpiece, and dare I say, the best Half Life game. Good job Valve, raising the bar once again, not for shooters this time, but for VR.

TLDR
A remarkably unique and interesting game that eludes most description. Reminds me of some sort of flash-game I'd play in the middle school computer lab, in the best way possible. Unapproachable but really fun once you get the hang of it.

Gameplay
So the basic gameplay involves either micromanaging or assigning AI to units after buying them and drop them from orbit. You have a single unit (or stationary object) that is the commander essentially, the brain. From here it varies mode to mode whether it's wave survival or breaching a hostile bunker. You use gold to buy units, which you mine from the earth. The gunplay is solid as hell and the gib-system is incredible. Though the subsystems like assigning AI and how certain things work is a bit unapproachable, I still love it dearly.

Factions
There are a few major factions in Cortex Command, all of which are interesting and fun to me.

Coalition: Typical Colonial-Marines-esque space soldiers with snazzy guns and green armor. They love their gatling turrets.

Dummies: Wacky crash test dummies with pretty solid units and variety despite being crash test dummies.

Ronin: Coalition rebels with some 21st and 20th century tech alongside the new stuff, good with numbers but not training.

Techion: Sleek silver robots with nanomachine and plasma weaponry, the units are mostly glass cannons.

Imperatus: Less sleek darkened iron robots with incredible armor and hard hitting weapons, really slow though.

Browncloaks: Hardened mercs with fire based weapons and a love of Australian Folk-Heroes/Infamous Vigilantes.

And there's a plethora of modded factions as well so if you get bored of the base ones you still have a ton more to do.

Graphics
With a wonderfully pixelated artstyle it may seem simplistic at first, until you realize that every pixel is calculated. Though the simulation is not quite to the point of Noita, it is wonderful to climb upon a mountain of your fallen foes.

Sound Design
Really good sound design on this one, with bullets hitting metal or meat being crushed, it's visceral but doesn't betray the artstyle.

Verdict
If you're willing to look past the approachability issues and learn the game, I would recommend this to anyone who's even minorly interested. Data Realms did a fantastic job making this wacky and unique RTS.
