Early Access Review
It's been a long ride following this game. However, every update is just better and better.

I would've never bought this for a dollar, but i'd guess there are worse things you can waste a dollar on...

Well, what else can be said that has not been said already. Always find myself jumping into this time and again.

This game isn't going to beat any decent RPG anytime soon, but i've seen worse , WAY worse RPGs out there. Boy, the amount of trash out there can't be measured.

Pretty cliche'd story, very straightforward but doesn't get boring. Even when powerlvling to go OP, buy the best everythings and steamroll everything on your path (lvl 30+) you won't spend over 4.5 hours on this, which is good as the story wont stretch farther than that.

$0.49 for 4 hours of not boredom wasn't a bad tradeoff.

This starts as your typical RPG. Evil sorcerer kidnaps princess and takes over, random guy wants to kick ass, chew bubblegum and marry said princess, or any of the available females surrounding him. Sounds like this guy could have a red cap with an M etched on it. The end..... or is it?

This game adds a pretty insightful and original twist into the "tried and true" RPG formula where the relatively unknown hero just pops up, kicks ass and saves some far flung kingdom. For such a short story (5-10 hours, depending how much you want to explore and/or achieve 100% completion), it is really involed and detailed, taking some known concepts like hidden agendas, powerful and invisible puppet masters, mind control, etcetera, into an RPG which is bigger and more flavorful than the sum of its parts.

This being a Sierra Lee's game, this contain adult themes and scenes, however the adult parts of the game are not used as bait, they do complement and enhance the story, unlike other "cheap" Steam RPGs which only are "boobs, boobs" and nothing else.

While the campaign may be "short" for my usual tastes (i prefer RPGs), it is, at its core, a throwback to the original DOOM roots and Id Software doing what it does best, especially as while they're not the original creators of the FPS genre, they did wrote the core rule book on what it should entail with the (un)holy trinity of Wolf 3D, DOOM and Quake.

Ground Control is one of those games that i highly remember after all this time. Played it ~10-11 years ago (got it FREE from FilePlanet, who can remember that?), and even now, after countless computer upgrades, it has not lost it's shine (entirely), nor looks bad as other "old" games (and it runs fine on W10 without doing anything to boot).

I have yet to see more RTS's with this style, where the units you have at the beginning are all you will ever get. The only game i can recall at the top of my head is Soldiers: Heroes of WWII (which is also one of my favorites). This makes the squad configuration critical for success and not just a race of who can mine resources faster to spam units.

If you love RTS's, i cannot recommend this strongly enough. After StarCraft, AoE, RoN, CoH and others, i can still get back to this game and not feel disappointed at all.

Also, this game is definitely NOT EA's ScamFront II. That definitely counts for something.
