Just bought this 3 months ago (a game that, when released about 3-4 years ago, was supposed to be a "10 year project"). Now they're obsoleting it.

If they offer a reasonable upgrade path, I'll change my rating.

Edit (June 16, 2024):

According to flightsimwebshop.com, "Virtually all add-ons purchased from the Marketplace for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will be compatible with the 2024 version. Players will not need to repurchase these add-ons, making the transition to the new simulator smooth and cost-effective." Assuming this is true (and that as Microsoft has otherwise stated, MSFS 2020 will continue to be supported), I am changing my thumbs down to thumbs up.

Fly safe!

Only one serious bug encountered (first time in the garden, none of the interactables were 'live'. Workaround: exit and restart game; no progress was lost). [edit: the devs tell me that this has already been patched. Fast!] Time to play -- 3 hours. I did not hurry, but I also did not dawdle.

I like games that make me think -- and I prefer relatively simple puzzles. This fit both of those preferences.

Voicing was superb, and artwork was beautiful and apropos. Some light/gentle humor also worked well. The story was interesting, although as a long-term SF reader, the main McGuffin was obvious to me early on. Didn't spoil the story for me, though.

It is indeed a walking simulator (and in fact you cannot run, a minor annoyance sometimes), but enough happened during that walk that I was rarely bored -- and only for very short bits, at that.

Recommended.
