From the very first time we started belching smoke and poisons into the air we sealed this fate for ourselves. We called it a revolution in industry, when in fact it was the creation of a monster that would destroy our home and force us underground.
This monster fed on war and suffering – food that we were willing to provide, and with each passing year we became more adept at creating devises that would enhance the final meal that would ultimately lead to that last nail.
As the monster grew, so did we.
Our intelligence and ingenuity increased, but our social responsibility diminished.
We lost the ability to care for one another and could not differentiate between
‘Could we’ and ‘Should we’
When the last day came we sealed the hatches against the sun and fed our bodies on artificial light and processed food.
This was the life we threw away.
For it is mere existence that now describes our being.
