I purchased this primarily because I thought creating mods and additional content would justify the steep price. However, the modding documentation is lacking significantly, and the workshop export button doesn't even appear for me. Steam refuses to refund me despite spending hours attempting to understand and create mods for this game, yielding no results.

As for the game itself, it looks impressive but demands hefty system specifications to run smoothly. Surprisingly, my racing simulation PC, equipped with a 3060 Ti and i5 11400F, struggles to handle it. While not a super powerful setup, it performs well with most racing games. My G923 wheel controls are so dysfunctional that I had to manually edit the save JSON to achieve a working configuration. This is peculiar since other games like The Bus, Fernbuss, and Tourist Bus Sim run smoothly on my system.

In my opinion, this game is not worth the $44 AUD price tag; it should be priced closer to $10-15 AUD. Despite being a Tesla fanboy, I was pleased to see good EV support, especially for the Model 3 and Y. The cars feel enjoyable to drive and represent a significant upgrade from City Car Driving. While there are activities to engage in, they lack detailed complexity – mostly involving going to a location and entering a marker, with some having slightly more depth.

I regret having to post a negative review, knowing that the development team invested a lot of effort. However, the value does not align with the asking price. Additionally, attempting to sell car DLCs for an extra $10 AUD each seems unreasonable.

Early Access Review
I've been playing Sons of the Forest for a while now, and I have to say, the building and crafting in this game is truly impressive. The level of detail you can achieve with the tile pieces is something I've never seen before in a survival game. And I love the fact that you have to use tools and weapons to update your buildings, which makes it feel more realistic and immersive.

The AI has also been revamped, and it's made a huge difference. The NPCs now have personalities, decision-making abilities, and even religions to follow, which adds a new level of depth to the game. It's fascinating to see how different tribes behave and interact with each other, and I've even had some instances where I've had to choose sides in a battle between natives and mutants.

But what really sets Sons of the Forest apart is the new companion feature. I've been playing with Kalvin, a survivor of the helicopter crash, who is now my loyal follower. He may not be able to speak, but he's incredibly helpful when it comes to completing tasks and gathering resources. And I love the fact that there are consequences to my actions - if I work him too hard, his morale will drop, and he won't be as effective.

Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying Sons of the Forest, and I can't wait to see what other companions and features the game has in store for me. If you're a fan of survival games, I highly recommend giving this one a try!
