Review: I will make it to mistlands.

Good game, wish it would get updated faster. Modding community is good.

My girlfriend is not one of the oh so illusive "gamer girls;" however, she does enjoy playing what she calls "cozy games." Stardew Valley is a masterpiece in that it carries appeal to such a wide audience. I'm able to min-max to my hearts content, build systems, and attempt to achieve 100% perfection (the games metric for shipping all crops, getting all achievements, etc.) Yet just as well someone who just wants to water crops, go fishing, and pet virtual animals can do so as long as they'd like. Concerned Ape, the soul creator of Stardew Valley, made a very cozy game entangled with depth and optional challenge for those who seek it. 10/10

I have around 300 hours and all achievements in Spelunky on pc alone. Prior to September 29, 2020, It stood as my favorite game of all time. I like games that reward learning various mechanics and games that have secrets and puzzles you have to dig for. Spelunky was a beautiful mix of the 2. Every time I reached a new milestone (i.e. killing Olmec, killing Yama, getting the no-gold run, getting the eggplant run), I got that feeling of progress, but I wasn't satisfied to the point where I could happily stop playing. That is, until Spelunky 2 dropped.

In the dwelling, the differences felt fairly minute: cave drawings on the wall, a turkey here, a horned lizard there, updated arrow trap visuals, etc. It still felt more the same than different though. The same tight controls, meticulous platforming down to the end of each level, and the ridiculous/brutal rube goldburg machine that was dying in the first game. It felt familiar yet fresh. It wasn't until I dug deeper that I saw just how Spelunky 2 set itself apart from it's predecessor. And that's exactly how, it goes oh so much deeper. I won't spoil even a little bit of Spelunky 2 here, as I feel puzzling your way through the treasure trove of secrets in the game holds a lot of it's charm. I've been blown away by said secrets thus far, and I don't believe I am even close to seeing the entire scope of this game. Derek Yu is an artist and has claimed the silver and gold medal on my podium of favorite games with this franchise alone. Thank you Mr. Yu.

TLDR: 10/10 game.
Guaranteed to have you scream with joy and agony in the same breath, and still say, "Just one more run"

This is a game that you can pick up and play for 10 minutes, but also it is great to play for hours. There is an endless amount of new shortcuts to learn and other things to make you better. I rate 10/10.
